Post your last tire/wheel purchase

I’m posting these photos with a different twist. They’re on behalf of the young man that purchased my used 17 inch truck tires. There is an entire secondary economy where people need a chance to buy used tires. I sold him four tires with 5 mm tread left for $100. The photos are from my KIJIJI ad. Enjoy.

We have five sets of tires for two Subarus. May wind up giving away one set.

Got some new shoes today. Had 4/32 left but they were getting a bit squirrelly in the rain on the highway and were useless on even light slush. (Michelin PS AS ZP 255/35/20)

Big fan of the TireRack mobile installers, so convenient and this is about the 4th set of tires they've done for me on my cars and have never had an issue.

I just ordered a pair of Continental DWS06+, size 285-30-20, for the rear of my Corvette. They are replacing my original back tires which have 106,200km on them! Not bad for Michelin Pilot Super Sports, which are really only rated for about 50,000km. I could have probably gotten them to 116,000 km but they are now 7 years old.
They cost me $446 Canadian each ($310 US) and I’m getting them installed on Monday. I already have these same DWS06+ tires on the front, I had to get them 4 years ago when the original fronts wore down to the cords on the insides from a bad factory alignment.

By the way, this is what my original tires look like after 106,200 km. As you can see they still have a little bit of tread left

Just ordered 3 sets of Vredesteins from my friend's shop: Sprint+ to replace 8 y/o Conti ECSs on the 996, Sprint Classics to replace Sprint Classics on the Tr6 and Pinza A/Ts for the diesel Defender, replacing 10 y/o BFG Commercial Traction ATs. A pox on the house of BFG for discontinuing a great tire.

Next is finding decent redial A/T tires in 7.5-16, many have been discontinued.

I need a new hobby:ROFLMAO:.

I see tires beyond worn out. A little tread left doesn't mean at all good or safe. YMWV
Well they are getting replaced 🤣
But seriously, I don’t drive it in the rain and definitely not in the snow, so it had more than enough tread for that type of condition. But I do feel better having fresh tires going on there. I just like getting my moneys worth out of tires before replacing them.

What it means is it’s time for a burnout!!! 😂

Put some painters tape on the bumper and let’s use the last bit of tread.

Wheels only for my son’s new 2012 F350.
Fast wheels HD Traxx 20x10 -15mm offset.
Tires will come off my 20x10 8x180 bolt pattern wheels, Toyo CTs 295/65R20 with 16,000 kms on them.
First Ford truck in the family, which just shows to go ya, never say never.

My son said the exact same thing to me! 🤣
In my younger days I would have done that for sure! But these days it’s not worth getting caught. In Ontario they would label it “stunt driving” and your car is impounded for two weeks and your license is suspended for a month! Plus the $10,000 fine! Nope! 😬

I'll go first; Carlisle 18x7.5x8 for the front of my JD X320 garden tractor.
2023 Toyota Prius with 17-inch factory wheels. Tirerack.com had only three choices available in the stock 195/60/17 size. One of those is the Michelin X-Ice that just got swapped out.

The new tires are Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ in size 215/55/17. There is a meaningless difference in the revolutions per mile but we've gained a bit of tread width.

Wider wheels to go with the wider tires?

I've bought a lot of tires this year. Everything was to the point that it was going to need tires in a few years and figured I better do it now before they got too expensive. ..

Just bought:
New Sumitomo Ice Edge 215/70r16 for the GRAND marquis

Last year bought ...
All season and snow tires for the Sentra
Tires for my mom's Escape
Tires for my F-350
new tires for the trailers

I help a couple of my wife’s friends with their cars. One asked for a recommendation and put 4 new CC2s on a 2021 (I think) RAV4h. She said they are very quiet. She took a 3 mpg hit for the first 1000 miles and said she’s now back where she was at 39mpg. Said she perceives better grip than any other tire she’s owned. Pretty sure the RAV had Dunlop PT20 as oem.

For my new to me 95 Pontiac Vibe, I Found a complete set of 2007 Prius 15” alloy wheels including the ring caps, center caps, lug nuts / lock lug and key on offer up for $200. Went to the local mom pop type tire shop, they had some new GY Duraplus2 tires for $360 out the door 4 tires including mount and balance (tire build date 2023 and I’m ok w that as it was stored indoors) so I pulled the trigger. Not bad for $560 wheels/tires. I was able to sell my 5 year old Sumitomo tires on rusted steel wheels for $140 offset the cost.
