Post your last tire/wheel purchase

How did you like the Firestone? I was thinking of a set of Destination LE3's but they're as expensive as Michelin. Were you please with the Firestone brand?
I did not like my LE series very much. Dry (while cornering) and wet traction (under all conditions, they did not ever hydroplane though) was poor. Noise was fine as was tread wear. The Michelins I put on made a big positive difference in handling. My generation was not an LE3 though so it could be a completely different experience.

The LE3 get excellent reviews and are a significant redesign supposedly. Based on Tire Rack information I'd put them on a short list.

4 new P225/70R15 General RT45s on the Impala. They are mounted on Chevrolet 15x6 Rally wheels. I have 600 miles on them and am happy so far. These supercede the RT43s.

2007 Mazda3, 144845 miles.

Off: 205/50/R17 Falken AS4, DOM 2016. Mileage unknown (came with the car).

On: 225/45R17 Continental ExtremeContact DWS06+. DOM 4222. Have appx 25 miles.

Smoothest riding tire I think I've ever experienced in 26+ years of driving. Haven't really put any 'fancy' driving on them yet, just to home from Discount Tire (all highway). Much quieter than the Falkens ever were from new (bought from my parents so I did experience them new). Expecting great things!

Vredestein Sprint+, 205/50Y17 & 255/40Y17 on the '96 911 replacing Conti DSW's. Not sure why a car that spent the past ~20 years in New Orleans had AS tires.

My first set of 'modern' Vredesteins as I've had many sets of their Sprint Classics on older cars.
Finally have a few days of fun driving on them and I am very satisfied. On center feeling is a bit numb and the first few degrees of turn in feel a little soft for lack of a better word, but all is great otherwise. They also feel 'smooth; through the steering wheel, as compared to the 2 years old Conti ExtremeContact DWS's that were on there. Tough to describe, but the Contis had a slight rumble that you could feel and the Vredesteins do not. Solid and confidence inspiring on the late night backroads, ramps and rotaries around here, even where the DWS's would give a squeal. One noticeable difference is that they are very quiet, but I have found that the Conti's, both Summer and A/s, have a bit of a howl on some surfaces.

Overall, highly recommended.

Oh, and importantly on a toy, they look period correct.

235/40/18 Accelera 651 Sport 200tw track-ish tires on my son's Ford Focus. He's doing autocross so picked up some used wheels and these tires. ~$450 delivered from tirestreets.com with a 15% off code. Cheaper now with their current sale promotion. I've used these on track at HPDE with good results.

That's a pretty nice looking tire. Do keep us updated on how they wear/perform.

I've been running them for the last year on my Sportwagen for track use and dailying them now for a few mos. They wear like iron (but fo course then don't have max dry grip like some of the top 200tw tires). Looks like he lost 1/32" of tire over 3 autocross days. You can find my review here:

Just replaced the LT 8.75x16.5 Firestone Transforce HT from 2011 on the 71 Dodge with LT 9.50x16.5 Transforce HT. Probably had 75% tread left but the sidewalls were getting bad. $209.00 each with free delivery on Amazon.

2018 GTI Performance, ~60.000 km = ~37,000 miles

off: 225/40 ZR18 92Y Michelin PSS w/ HN spec (made in France)

on: 225/40 ZR18 92Y Michelin PS4S without spec (made in USA)

As expected the PS4S provides significantly better wet performance.
Roughly same dry grip and steering feel (but worn vs new). However,
there`s a downside, my take on ride comfort/NVH: Clearly worse.
Not expected, since nobody told that. Anywhere. On a side note:
Way better rim protection, but these wheels would still easily take a
wider tire.

PSS vs PS4S:

Are those 18x9” wide wheels?

Out: Toyo Open Country H/T LT265/70R17
In: Michelin Defender LTX M/S P265/70R17

The Toyo still had decent life with the lowest measurement at 8/32nds but my biggest regret was getting the LT version where I was getting tired of dealing with the harsh ride. Saw Michelins on sale at my local tire shop with the P-Metrics in stock and impulse bought them.

Replaced my 285/70r17 c-rated BFG KO2s with 275/70r17 e-rated Nokian Outpost ATs. The Nokians are good in the snow, but a little wandery on the highway. MPGs are comparable with other ATs I’ve run, aka not great. They are very comfortable for an e-rated. Noise isn’t any worse than the KO2s.

285/70/17 Mickey Thompson Baja boss M/T and some new Method wheels. Bought a few weeks ago and took on a road trip, they were great. Quieter than the stock bfg km1s, harder ride tho because it’s a load range E

1995 Mustang GT 245/45R17

out: Antares Ingens A1 M+S by previous owner (horrible tyres)
in: Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 (tyres are really nice, name could be shorter)

I have a set of P-rated 245/70-17 Goodyear Duratrac to replace P-rated General Grabber AT2s on my 2007 Grand Cherokee 5.7 Limited in the same size. We have had 2 sets of Duratracs on my sons Wrangler with good results. The Generals have been on for 9 years(!) and were excellent the only reason why I didn’t get them again was that you can’t get the P version in that size only the LT 10 ply rated version. Too stiff for Jeeps IMHO.
10 ply tires are for 3/4 ton pick ups not Jeeps!

Needed a set of inexpensive tires for an older Buick. Went with Kumho KU27 from Walmart for 89$ each. So far tires have been great, smooth and quiet and couldn't ask for more for the price. Will have to see how they wear and also what winter brings. Has to be better than what was on it before though.
