Is this current MPG for this winter?
The MPG in my wife's '01 Lexus RX-300(1mzfe) is at around 14-15 MPG city this winter.
My '04 Altima 2.5 is 21-22 MPG city this winter.
My daughter's '06 Mazda3 2.0L auto is at 26-27 MPG city this winter.
We're all disapointed as this is the worst consistant MPG we have all experienced.
This has also been a cold, snowy winter compared to years past...
Winters are always cold here...This is nothing new here in Rochester. Usually the Southern Tier is even colder still.
Since my last reply to this subject during the winter 2011(very angry with our MPG), our current MPG has risen to it's normal fuel economy for this time of year(summer). Slightly better to much better than the EPA rating for all of our vehicles inlcuding my daughters car.
This past winter, we all experienced the worst MPG that I can ever remember(since I'm the one with the data) for these vehicles. Consistantly poorer from tank to tank of fuel. The NWS says it was abnormaly cold(er) than in recent years. Although, in my area, we never got down to some of the coldest days on record, we were consistantly cold all winter long with almost no days reaching "up" into the 20's deg F. We seemed to always be in the teens but never really got below Zero. I could be mistaken!
Now, the MPG is where we always expect it to be. I'm sure we'll get a flier/dropper along the way. One real high reading and one real low reading and we won't be able to put a finger on it as to why! I'll double check the trip odometer and gallons used for any mistakes. Clean my glasses one more time and make sure that I am not seeing "things"!
As the summer tempuratures rise into the 90's deg F and higher and the humidity increases, the MPG will also rise, as is typicle according to my data for our own vehicles. Lately, we have not broken into the 80's deg F only a few days thus far(not typicle for this time of year). Been a bit cooler up to now and I can't beleive the 4th of July is almost here. Just doesn't seem right as we should be sweating our @$$&$ off by now with still more heat on the way right into September with cool nights and often many warm days in OCT. Then we knew that we really had a good summer.
I remember one summer in the early 1990's where the summer started in April and went into October. It was consistantly "HOT"! Never really hitting 100 deg F(although 99 a few times) and never much below the 80 deg F. My lawn never really turned green that year(couldn't water enough...so I didn't). The MPG was great!
The winters on either side of that summer weren't anything drastic either, just normal winter/snow/wind.
