I can't tell whether it's the M1 5w-30, Auto-Rx treatment or both in my 96 Saturn DOHC. Last 2 tankfulls show 3MPG better than I've done in months, with the same amount of cold weather idling. All with more city driving than I usually do, to boot.

Average MPG is just under 31 MPG for the last several tanks. Post Auto-Rx and M1, 34 MPG for 2 tanfulls. Haven't seen a Saturn 4cyl run this good since I bought my 98 SL2 DOHC new! Thanks Frank! Thanks Exxon Mobil! No placebo effect here, the real thing!

It probably is the auto-rx as I am seeing vast improvements in milage, power and oil consumption.
This auto-rx is great stuff and I plan to use it on a regular basis in all my cars. My toyota cressida has gone from 18-19 to 21-22 mpg and I haven't finished the full treatment yet!

I'm quite happy with the latest results: 34.9 MPG on my last tankful!

The weather is getting warmer, so cold starts aren't an issue much anymore. I'll try to stick to around the speed limit and see if I hit the MFR-declared 36 MPG. Not bad for a car with 102K on it!

ToyotaNSaturn, like you I am convinced that Auto-RX really works. Like you, I have owned Saturn vehicles (and Toyotas, for that matter). I always do 3000 mile oil changes and I think my engines stay pretty clean. But when I used Auto-RX in my old Saturn an oil seal leak did stop after I had cleaned the engine with Auto-RX. In comparison, Valvoline MaxLife oil (which contains a seal conditioner) and a special oil supplement I had bought to stop seal leaks, had not worked.

The oil in my car never really became extremely dirty when I did Auto-RX cleaning, but I think the engine was pretty clean anyway. Maybe older model Saturns had a problem around the piston rings or something. There did seem to be some sludge in the oil filter-trapped in the oil filter I had used in the cleaning. Oil flowed very slowly out of it.

Based on some test results that were shown at this web site and on my own experience, and on the experience of people like you, Auto-RX is one of the very few oil supplements that I believe it. I think it really does work.

There may be some things that work just as well. Maybe Neutra or Lube Control will do as well, I simply don't know. But Auto-RX works for sure.

I did everything concievable when it came to engine oil and fuel system cleanliness.

However for two straight years and countless engine system cleaners my fuel mpg had crashed.

Just could not figure it out.

Added Auto-RX 1st bottle and oil....nothing hqappened.

By middle of second rinse oil change...wow somwthing happened.

My fuel economy was restored to the sticker value just like it was new again.

Much smoother too.

I am on my second bottle and the improvements are still on going.

Case in point even on my "maintained" engine...things still got dirty even with religious synthetic usage.

Auto-RX may take time, patience, and mileage but it works.

I hereby affirm that i am not recieving any compensation for this post

Oh you are all are just bought and sold by Auto-RX !

Seriously :

Auto-RX is the real deal, NOTHING like it anywhere.

To safely clean the hot, high pressure areas in an engine periodically it just can not be beat.

It may have other applications as a liquid filter and some on this board are about to embark in testing that with the permanent stainless steel mesh oil filters, stay tuned.

Terry, any time frame in mind for when the resulst on this testing will be in?

Will these be available at WalMart for $1.97 as well! LOL

Back to the MPG...
Double checked the MPG rating on my car...it's 35 hwy not 36. So I guess I'm up against the upper limit of what's achieveable. Any suggestions on how to get better MPG? I try to keep the tires properly inflated, no jack rabbit starts, and have put in M1 ATF in the trans (5 speed). Newer SL-2 Saturns were rated at 38mpg from the factory. Same engine and transmission. I'd like to hit THAT number....

I have a question. From the auto-rx site it states that the product is nothing more than synthetic esters, so why would not just running a good syn oil which are known to clean out an engine be just as effective and a lot cheaper? The engine is still getting cleaned is it not?
Thanks

I agree with you 73Duster. Problem with useing Syn. is cost, to justify cost people stretch OCI. Stretch OCI you get crud in the motor. If you dont have crud in the motor no cleaner will help!!
Oil co. now have oil for high milage motors 75,000 up. Has same additives, and does same job.

There are all kinds of esters for one. Secondly, some are good cleaners, some are not. Many synthetic oil contain esters to hold in additive packages, whereby the the use of PAO's, is deficient in this coupling senario.

ARX contains esters that are very good cleaners, primarily. Secondly have good lubricating properties. I have seen many cases of synthetics failing to keep motors clean. It may be due to people pushing the envelope on drain intervals, due the higher cost and advertising.
