Post a photo of your oil on dipstick (with miles)

That looks so dark. What oil were you running previously? Do you have any varnish or crud when you look under the fill cap?
With only 46k on the motor and 1700 on that I hope its a lighting thing.
Known history? As asked previous oils? Previous OCI's? Was filter changed on this round?
Not a lighting thing. This engine destroys oil quickly due to the known high fuel dilution. Previous oil was the same: Castrol Euro 5W40. No varnish that I could see but it's hard to see down there due to a plastic filter that Honda installed in there.

I did not change the oil filter this time as it only has 1672 miles on it.

I have learned over the years the following OCI regiment due to high fuel dilution, especially in our cold winters:

Change oil in spring as soon as temps regularly stay above freezing. That's what I did today. I put Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W30 in with previous Fram Endurance filter that only has 1672 miles on it.
Run oil until Winter temps start dipping below freezing.

So the Spring/Summer/Fall OCI ends up with about 8 months and 3000-4000 miles.
The Winter OCI is typically 4 months and 1500-2000 miles.

Yeah, we drive this vehicle only 4500-6000 miles a year.

If you search the UOA forum for 2018 CRV you will come up with several reports I've posted over the years. The winter UOA looks horrible, the Spring/Summer/Fall UOA looks...less horrible. LOL.

What's interesting is with a different driving pattern, this engine delivers great looking UOAs. I had one that involved a cross country trip in the summer and it was nearly flawless as far as UOAs go.

That's part of the reason I'm not a fan of not changing the filter. The 7317 filters hold almost 1/2 quart so dirty, fuel diluted stays there to mix with new.

Future daughter-in-laws Tucson is about the same as you. about 6k per year with fuel dilution. I made her OCI 6 months/3k miles with filter change. You used to be able to see her oil level rise on dipstick with factory OCI and that stuff was NASTY.

If I was you I look at getting some Premium Guard XL's from Rock Auto or CarQuest Premiums from Advance for the cost difference and change it each time.

I know a lot of people on here will have a fit, but I actually remove the filter, drain it, and put it back on. I've never had an issue with leaking or damage to the filter. If by some chance that were to happen, WalMart and O'Reillys are 2 miles away.

1947 miles on oil
Castrol Euro 5W40
oil will stay in the engine until October 2025. By then it should have ~5000 miles on it.

The oil level is actually right at the full mark, but I started the engine to move the car for the CRV oil change and it hadn't all drained back down into the sump yet when I took this pic.

For me at that effort I'm going to replace it but if it works for your schedule, you be you. $13 each for a potentially wavy leaking bypass valve FE7317 vs under $5 PG4612EX.

I just plugged in 6 of the PG's on RA, shipped to me, with tax. $37.89 total = $6.32 each

If I had stock on the FE7317, yup I'd use them up but I'm not planning to get more.

It actually works quite well for me. And I go on a ~30 mile drive before changing the oil so the oil is nice and hot and flows well.
1. drain oil. when the stream slows to a slow drip, hand tighten the oil drain nut.
2. remove oil filter and place it upside down in a drain container.
3. wipe down everything I can reach under the car.
4. remove the hand-tightened drain plug and let the rest of the sump drain while I go in the house and grab a drink.
5. tighten drain plug, prefill oil filter, and reinstall it.
6. add fresh oil.

This maximizes the amount of old oil removed.

Last car for the day.
2003 Honda Civic EX
185500 miles on engine
2700 miles on oil
Castrol Euro 5W40
I have added .5qt at 1100 miles and .5qt at 2300 miles. Doesn't seem to have lost any oil in the last 400 miles. It's right at the full mark.

If you don't open up the ADBV somehow, there will still be a lot of oil inside the filter. It just won't all drain out of the center tube without breaking the vacuum by opening the ADBV.
Understood. But some comes out, which is better than none coming out.

This is how much more oil that came out of this filter after I first drained it without opening the ADBV, and then I opened the ADBV with a couple of Q-Tips bent in half. It measured out to be 6 oz. The ADBV was holding all that oil inside the can, even with the filter positioned base down, it won't drain unless you break open the ADBV.

39,950 miles / 3000 miles
VRP 0W20

Looks about like every other oil after 3000 miles. Nothing to see really. Level is high from using 5qts in the 4.8qts sump - level seems to be holding steady. Going to run Gumout in about 1000 miles before the 2nd OCI with VRP.

'25 KIA Soul LX . The other '25 Soul had the same level from the factory . Must be standard practice in their KIA plant in South Korea . Hope to do 1st O.C. in next few weeks .
