Polar Vortex Coming!

Dang! The SE to NE coastal states from Louisiana up beyond New York are getting a decent amount of snow this 21st day of January. Some entertaining storm chaser live feeds on YouTube. Finally enjoying a real Michigan winter here. Yee Haw!

The area around the Sabine River had a stronger flurry than the rest of both states (border region heading east) …

It'll be -17c tomorrow morning when I leave for work, with the feel like factor it will be -27c. I will do the same thing as I did today, belt on, idle for less than 60 seconds and SEE YA!

That's when an ev would be great.
Sit in the LaZboy and on your phone app, tell your car to prewarm the interior to 22 C about 15 minutes before you are ready to leave.
That hasn't been the experience my co-workers have had. They reported 30-40 miles of range on a full charge at -10F. Both live close and we have a station, so everything worked out.

It is not uncommon for this to happen in the SE........Louisiana is perhaps a bit different story.

So their cars will not preheat the interior?
I think his point is that preheating further destroys an already poor range in extreme temps. A coworker used to own a Model S and didn't want to even use the app to check on the car's charge throughout the day in fear that he was sucking more valuable battery life.
