There are two perspectives here...
1) The OP is parked in the very first spot by the stairs, elevator, or door from the garage, and the next person showed up and parked in the next spot. I wouldnt have (I would have parked in an end spot far away), but parking in the next spot is a logical option.
2) The OP parked far away from any elevator, stairs, or door, with the INTENTION of being FAR AWAY to AVOID other cars. If someone parks next to OP then, its a pretty lousy, if not idiotic move. Idiotic because if someone parks next to another car on an assumption of there being an exit nearby, and there isnt, theyre just dumb...
I suspect the situation is #1, but Ive been in situation #2, where I purposely park normally in a far away spot, and some idiot parks next to me despite the fact that there is an entire lot around...
