After hearing rumors that PU was likely going to be dropped at Walmart, I have been trying to figure out what they carry that could replace it. I had made my mind up to get the Quakerstate Ultimate Durability since PQIA's test of it looked good especially with respect to NOACK of 8.8%.
I needn't have worried - my Walmart was chock full of PU products! I wound up buying 2 five quarts jugs of the 5w30 and 2 of the 5w20.
I'm a big fan of PU and use in my Ecoboost F150. I have never done a used oil analysis on it but when I drain it at 6K OCIs it is definitely not shot. That engine may put it through some serious fuel dilution but what is sitting in drain pan looks fine - just draining the old oil out of the pan leaves a very strong film behind that is not the easiest thing to clean out, it leaves a film that is stout! When I used Mobil 1 I could wipe the same pan out with a paper towel and clean it up like new, nothing left behind! The PU would require washing the pan out with varsol to get it as clean as wiping it out after M1 was in it.
This is about as unscientific as you can get but I run it in everything here and it performs great. I just bought a new Mazdaspeed 3 and it will be running PU as well. Sorry for the long post but I just wanted to impart the joy I felt when I turned that isle and there was lots of PU, front and center.
