I was spoiled by an Italian Grandmother, who made pizza from scratch. Her own dough & sauce, and the meats & veggies from a mom & pop Italian market.

Best pizza I ever had from a chain, was one from the midwest in the early 70's---it was called "SIR PIZZA" & a believe a few are left, maybe under the banner of "Pizza King." They had a unique process of grinding the toppings, which seemed to perfectly mesh the tastes of each. It was some awesome pie!!!
