I've already decided, NO VRP for this car. I can't monitor it close enough.i would run some VRP. then cut the filter open at 3k miles
are they similar/same filter as the premium guard? That takes the M1-108. You can go for the M1-110 for more capacity/flow. Same bypass pressure rating.
If you're talking about the new Mobil 1 at Walmart (under Highline Warren) instead of the old Mobil 1 (under M+H), then there are many PGI made filters that are basically the same as the new Mobil 1.Better. I don't know of an automotive filter that beats Mobil 1's.
well, there's a lot of ways to think about what is "best" in this situation when the oil is in a "severe service" interval.Better. I don't know of an automotive filter that beats Mobil 1's. You asked for the best. If the $11 at walmart bothers you, they're half that on RockAuto.
prior to a month ago, a M1 was nothing better than a jobber filter with a silicone ADBV.Better. I don't know of an automotive filter that beats Mobil 1's. You asked for the best. If the $11 at walmart bothers you, they're cheaper on RockAuto. On RA you have to type 'm110a' in the search.
I run the 110 in place of the 108 on a Rogue.
Premium Guard (available on Amazon) is the brand under PGI (Premium Guard Inc), and there are other brands like Carquest Premium and MicoGard Select under the PGI umbrella. The new Mobil 1 isn't under PGI, but instead under Highline Warren, but the new Mobil 1 is very similar to the PGI made filters and per Highland Warren (I called them) they said the new Mobil 1 is 99% @ 20u.Premium Guard was suggested, M1 was suggested ...
Bosch and M+H were co-owners of Purolator, but M+H bought out Bosch's stake in Purolator back in 2013. Now Bosch is on it's own and M+H has no part or association with Bosch. Probably why the Bosch filters don't exhibit the quality issues of the M+H filters.Bosch is M+H. They're usually not sitting around on the shelf, though.
Yeah, it's a job trying to keep track of all the chaos in the oil filter world.Oh really. They change hands so much. Thanks for the update.

they now have a 99% @20um but prior to that they were labeled 99% @30um. i also have a cammed LS and ran the M1 filters for almost 200k miles. have since changed to OG wire back fram titanium’s. if i ran out (never will) i would move to Carquest premiums simply out of cost and quality.Bosch is M+H. They're usually not sitting around on the shelf, though.
M1-108 - 3330
M1-110 - 3323
I like the higher capacity. It maintains oil pressure better, and less likely to clog up.
There's nothing wrong with Mobil's filters. Everyone has their preference. Mine is the one that holds up to a high pressure oil pump in a cammed LS that regularly sees redline, and has done so for 90k (5k OCI) with no indication of letting me down. They also have 99% first pass efficiency at 20 microns. There are many that don't achieve this.
Yep, the earliest ones to get are:ok, gents. I appreciate all the posts. very informative, truly.
SO the final contestants are Premium Guard(and it's other brands, still trying to sus out what they all are) and Mobil 1?
