Picked up a Sonata Today

Wel, I was browsing on AutoTrader and came upon a great deal for a 2015 Hyundai Sonata SE 2.4L w/ 52k miles. Drove down to Tucson (110 miles 1 way) to go see it and it checked out great. Runs and drives great and the tires are near new. It's a base model but has Bluetooth which is all I cared about. Very comfortable and lots of headroom (new Camry's have very little headroom). Still under powertrain warranty until 60k miles. It's not perfect, has a couple door scratches but all very minor.

Only $9,990 and the dealer didn't play any games. Just purchase price, tax, title, and doc fee (which they all have). No paint sealant or window tint charges nonsense. This was a Subaru dealer and they had it at $14k, then marked it to $12k, then they liquidate cars after so many days on the lot.

Dude, congrats! I know you have flirted with getting a Sonata in the past. I had this model as a rental once, nice smooth cars for sure. This should last you a long time with only 52K!

Yup, nice and smooth. I really like the seats in the Sonatas, the higher trim levels of course have better seats but these are still quite good. I'm tall so I like the seat bottom the be pretty deep and not cut off short.

It's not that quick, it's as quick as I need it to be though. Definitely better than the Camry though!

As the second owner, will you have an engine warranty past 60K miles in case the motor seizes due to the known oil starvation problem? I'm not sure what models are affected by Hyundai-Kia's special extended warranty for this condition, but I have two friends (original owners) whose four cylinder engines died, one Sonata and one Optima.

It's got 8k miles of warranty left until 60k.

2011 and 2012 were problem engines.

I own 2. , a 2005 and a 2011 . Great cars and the engine problems of 2011-12 are under 120000 extended warranties.
It even says that if I ignore maintenance intervals , I am covered.
We get over 30 mpg on the 2011 , combined driving.
That direct injection motor is excellent.
Make sure you spray the throttle body and use good quality injection cleaner or the car will surge when it gets dirty.
These high pressure systems do gum up if not regularly serviced.
Also , if the car stinks, the cabin air filter needs a cleaning.
The brake rotors do rust on the outside edges and sometimes will make scraping noise that the stealership can not find.
Grind if necessary.
Basically its the best inexpensive sedan on the market. Hands down.
I've been in similar size camry's, lincoln's, ford, lexus, chevy's, suburu's , etc . and it blows all them away.

I'll have to look into some injector cleaners for it, thanks for the info.

My great-aunt has a 2006 Sonata 2.4L that has been fantastic. It has only needed a belt pulley, it had a little squeak. And it needed a power steering hose for a leak. I figure after 10 years a hose leak isn't too bad

If you mean the Buick, it hasn't sold yet. I have a guy waiting for his taxes though.

I've only been in a few later model Sonatas, but I do find them very comfortable. The ride is better with those 16" wheels over the 18's or what ever they put on the higher optioned models. You did great. More than 1/2 off a the cost of a new one!

That looks like a good deal on a nice car. My favorite feature of the Sonata? ... It's one of the very few cars you can still buy today with a proper 4 spoke steering wheel!
