Looking for a truck as a beater but one that won't kill me. One that will make a 40 mile trip (not daily driver) just one that would actually go dependably 40miles away from home on any given day and make it back in one piece. Mostly used as a "take stuff to the dump" vehicle. And what "offer" price do you think i should shoot at them?

98 s10 $1200

1995 Chevy S-10 $1100

2000 chevrolet s10 $1200

99 GMC Sonoma Sport Edition $2300. At top top end of my price range.

I vote for the 98. It's got a good list of newer parts and looks like a good deal

The sport edition is the cleanest but will not handle as well in the snow.

Because all the Fords are same condition same miles but literally a grand more. I have no idea why.
The Dodges and few and utterly burned out. The Toyotas dont exist or are 2004 for $8 friggen grand LOL.

He did state that they were GM's. Calling them beaters is redundant (lol).

By the way, they're way to new to be called beaters in my neighborhood. Around here a 30 year old truck is ready for a remake and it's second stage of life.

The Sonoma Sport looks interesting but I doubt it has only 16k miles on it. Good sign it has winter tires available. Might be able to snag it for 1500-2000.

Yup

I kinda like the 2000. The 98 is a nice truck too. Forget the 95, beat up, and has had a few extra years to rot.
Also you would hate the 2.2/ auto combo, super gutless, and gas mileage tanks when loaded to less than the v6

Yup

I'd agree. This appears (by a nose) to be the least beat of the battered and rusted.

Around here, as in where the OP lives, we have things known as "ice" and "snow". These things require the road application of a substance known as "salt" which eats cars alive.
There aren't too many pristine older vehicles in the Midwest.
There are few thirty year old trucks still on the road around here. They've been long since been parted to the ground with the remains shipped to a mill.

Salt. 30 yr old trucks from midwest on east are in the junkyard with terminal cancer.

I'd take a look at this if I were in the area and in the market.

Looks like a whole lot less rust, and miles for not a whole lot more money. Nothing on the front that couldn't be fixed with a trip to the boneyard.
An extended cab on a small truck is a blessing. The 3.0, while not a powerhouse, is a pretty stout motor.

I like the 99 sport if you can verify the miles. Especially if it comes with snow tires for the winter. If the miles are true that truck will last a while. The others are pretty high miles and will need high maintenance to keep them going.
