PF53 vs PF1245

At AutoZone last night their catalog called for a PF53 for my 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.7L. However I noticed that the gasket had a larger diameter and went all the way to the edge of the filter unlike the OEM filter and a Purolator L22821 i have used.

I bought a PF1245 that was for a 2004 suzuki Grand vitara because it looked like my OEM filter. Will i damage my engine by using the PF1245?

What do you mean "looked like?"

There are more variables in filters than the sizes of the o-rings.

Thread size.
Bypass pressure.
ADBV or lack thereof.
Overall length.
Overall diameter.

And probably a few others I'm forgetting.

I'd say go to the Delco website and compare the specs on the two filters.
