Pet peeve!! MOBIL not MOBILE

Still get one - they are fun cars just enjoy it by yourself like I do.

I'm the same way lately. When I got my 98 Corvette 20 years ago I went on a lot of Corvette cruises and they were a lot of fun, but some of the newer owners that have come into the mix have changed the dynamic a bit, so I find myself just cruising by myself most of the time, or with the small group of Corvette guys that I met at the beginning. I'm definitely not part of the "lawn chair crowd", I can't stand those car show types. I just want to drive!

We are exactly the same! It also seems like the world revolves all around the C8 now. People buying them and trashing on the older models. I just took a trip to Bowling Green last summer and the entire Corvette Museum was C8 including the gift shop - NO C6 shirts and the only thing I could get for my C4 was a refrigerator magnet.

"Tyre" is the standard spelling in British English

"Tire" is the standard spelling in American English.

The Nokians on my BMW say "Tyres" on the sidewall

More gristle to chew on:

Alpha Romero
McClaren
"Porsch"
"Bill-steen"
"Pah-geed"

it's/its (it's the contraction has the apostrophe, not the possessive)
their/there/they're
apostrophes applied to every plural
"8-cylinders" Mustang (usage is eroding this one)
couldn't/could care less
nauseated/nauseous (usage has eroded this distinction)

My similar pet peeve is the guys with the CUMMINGS diesels. Its CUMMINS

Its those CUMMINGS drivers who fuel up at the MOBILE station.
This exactly

And #2 for me is zert for a grease fitting.

With classifieds, sale vs sell. Not sure why that's difficult. "Must sale." "For sell." WHAT?!?!??

I never understood it on "normal" words because it's obviously possessive but I was guilty of this on acronyms.

Then decided that wasn't right and just stopped using an apostrophe but of course the "s" still has to be lower case or it looks like part of the acronym.

Just today I got off my digital butt and searched it, apparently it's supposed to be like plural possessive with an s THEN apostrophe. I'm not sure I've ever actually seen this applied in real life, or maybe I just overlooked it when I did.

According to this, plural of NGO would be NGOs'
https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-c...t people add an 's,apostrophe before the 's'.

But this was just a poster responding to the question so I wonder if they're really correct???

Gawd...that one drives me nuts too. It totally sounds like they are country bumpkins when people say those two phrases.

Another that is annoying is just a matter of laziness in enunciation:

Instead of "deal" they say "dihl"

Instead of "important" they say "impor-ant"

My dad has his own quirks. He just got an Apple Watch, but keeps on referring to it as an "iWatch". Mostly drives his fairly new Tesla Model 3, but keeps on referring to it as an "e-car". Drives me nuts.
