Bubba The Love Sponge told people on tha radio that valve grinding compound also does the job well.

Some people put this stuff in gas cans and leave them outside, so gas thieves pay the price for their crimes.

Using this is more effective than dumping sand or other things in the oil because if you dump junk in the oil, you still have oil and an oil filter. The filter can filter some or most of that stuff out and you still have oil lubricating the engine.

During C4C, they would drain all the oil out first, then pour the sodium silicate in. So, there was no oil to give the engine a fighting chance. The solution gets sucked up by the oil pump and gets distributed throughout the engine, to all bearing surfaces, the camshaft, cylinder walls, etc. As the engine heats up, the solution hardens into a gritty, sandpaper-like stuff on all of these surfaces. So, not only is there no oil, but all of the critical points in the engine that require smooth, low-friction surfaces are now made of sandpaper, grinding away at each other until they seize together.
