I have always been a people watcher. As I wait at the Detroit airport this morning to head to Colorado to see my first Grandchild, I am enjoying watching thr people. Old, young, beautiful, not so beautiful, casually dressed, dressed up, rich and not rich.

Where else can you get such an interesting mix?

Do you enjoy people watching too?

I just spent a bunch of time in the airport. It is definitely a mix of people you only find there. I've been through a bunch of major airports in the last 2 years, each always has it's own particular mix.

I usually spend more time looking out the window at the ground crew...always curious about the equipment differences at different airports.

Years ago, when air travel was universally expensive, I suppose the clientele would "look good".

Then again, old time pictures at baseball games had people looking better dressed than average.
Was it a social gathering or did the photographers go on Sundays?

What I love are the passengers who look like unmade beds. They appear to be seasoned travelers when you overhear them.

What I'd like to do is correlate passengers who are "regulars" against the MANY food outlets in airports. My guess is that the serious travelers don't "eat as compulsively" as the general flying public. I'm blown away by the number of eateries in airports.

I thought this was a thread about being at the approach end of a runway and watching the traffic land ...

Sometimes "looking rich" means being in debt up to your neck.

I’d say that’s more common than not...

I don't people watch anymore. It's too depressing. This country has turned into a bunch of overfed, overweight, stupid (but think they're all geniuses), selfish jerks, for the most part. I don't like to generalize, but...

An unhealthy and uneducated population is one that is easy to control and manipulate.

On the people watching front, I keep my eyes to the ground and avoid eye contact. Too many crazies out there.

I agree on the fluffy part-- sometimes I cannot get thru the isles in Walmart because of over fluffy folks-- but being extra large is a way of life for about 60 percent of the population... it is not healthy.

Ironic you mention this, just the other day there was a woman behind me tailgating, following too closely, glued to my bumper... how ever you want to describe it, it presses my buttons the wrong way. So I was looking at her in the rearview and she was close enough to notice at least three chins and arms that looked like ham hocks protruding from a sleeveless whatever as she intermittently shoved a big mac, whopper, or into her face with one hand, steering with the other.

I'm in Airports so much they're like a second home it seems. I used to people watch more, now, I try and zone people out. One thing I've learned over the years is that you can't always judge a book by it's cover.

I fly pretty regularly and I don't ever get food in the airport. A trip usually takes me about 12 hours with a layover, standard procedure is to just bring a backpack, with some snacks and an empty bottle of water. I fill up the water in the drinking fountain and try to eat and drink as little as possible - to stay out of the airplane bathroom.

I find the food prices at the airport disgusting and so are most of the choices.

Two very bizarre posts.

Guess we are on a forum for motor oil, though...

Absolutely do.

I don't get out too much, so it's always interesting to me.

At very least, I tell my kids it's a good way to learn how NOT to be depending on the situation. Opens up discussion if nothing else.
