People taking blood pressure meds

I take Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once a day around noon. Take Lisinopril 40 mg too. I’ve been on meds for well over 20 years. I’ve had high blood pressure since I was a teen but never really paid attention to it. Finally around age 25 I started meds. Just the way I am for some reason. I exercise regularly both cardio and weights and don’t smoke. I’m actually in good shape. Go figure. Meds can get me around 130/80. Without I’m 160/100.

Disclaimer, talk to your doctor, you are paying them for a reason right?

Diuretics follow a simple principle, Water follows salt, limit salt reabsorption and naturally water will follow them out your Kidneys (if you want to get techy, limit the NaCl transport at the DCT). HCTZ is probably what most folks are familiar with as the DOC. Doctors vary on how HCTZ is administered, some like to say night, some say morning. Again something you should discuss with your doctor, and bring up with your fitbit data as well as simply your sleep quality issues.
