Pentius PLXL 7317 99%@20 microns 10,000 mile filter. Very well built. Almost if not identical to PG built XL filters.

Are these like the gold standard now? I notice quite a bit of discussion on/off about the brand/these filters in particular.

Just wondering what makes them "case" worthy to order. (No, I don't need any snark comments - I am not able to spend as much time here as I would like)

Due to the horrible QC and craftsmanship we’re currently seeing from First Brands and M+H these(and PG) have shown consistently superior quality. In a nutshell.

Nice photos. Are you able to measure the total area of the media, or the height and depth of the pleats?

It's nice to see a larger bypass valve compared to the small BPV on the other PG filters. It seems to be around 10 mm in diameter instead of 7.5 mm, which seems a lot more appropriate in higher flow applications.

Thanks for all the hard work. Appreciate it.

The filter appears to be a quality filter although what has me a bit concerned is I'm not seeing Pentius directly referencing the ISO-4548-12 either on their website or on the filter box.

Don't know what to think about that?

58.5 x2.5 =146.25

Pleat depth =.5”

I agree. Sent email addressing that very question.

Tighter pleats than the PG stuff and just a little cleaner IMO. For beauty contest lol I have been seeing excess glue on much of the china PG stuff and slowly more often at the Vietnam plant. These Korean Pentius XL are like a perfected PG IMO.
Looked so good I felt bad cutting it up. 😂

Any way to measure the cracking force on the bypass valve with a force scale, and then the PSI setting could be calculated knowing the measured diameter.

That's a lot of media. Chances are it has low restriction and a high holding capacity.

Here's how it compares to some other filters in the 7317 size (or similar):

Pentius PLXL7317: 943 cm^2
Tokyo Roki 15208AA170: 900 cm^2
PurolatorOne PL14610: 768 cm^2
Mobil 1 M1-104: 682 cm^2
FRAM Ultra XG7317: 681 cm^2
Purolator BOSS PBL14610: 634 cm^2
Supertech MP7317: 612 cm^2
FRAM Endurance FE7317: 586 cm^2
FRAM PH7317: 541 cm^2

Let me think about how I could do that.
I've found it easiest to use a digital kitchen scale with a socket or something between the scale and BPV. Otherwise you could just place some known weights on top of the valve, then check for any movement. The BPV rating is 13 psi, and it should need around 2 lbs to crack open.

Case worthy = a little over $5 a piece from scamazon when bought a dozen per, vs $10 each for PG at the auto parts store.

^^ what he said.
