Perfect timing, as I'm about to install my first Pentius filter. The pleats look like they were spaced using a laser-guided device. Thank you for sharing.

Been working great. Engine is quiet and smooth throughout the whole oci. Uses 1/4 qt per 5k miles.

Have you ever wiped your oil fill hole, or has it always looked that clean?
At my last oil change, my FA20DIT had several little chunks of carbon hanging out up near the fill cap threads. There hasn't been much carbon at all in my oil filters, and everything looks clean and free of varnish down into the engine. I'm not sure why any bits of carbon would collect there.

But I’ve seen what you’re talking about in some of the Subaru’s I maintain. These are usually short tripped and have some gunk on the underside of the oil fill cap. I believe it comes off the cap and collects in the crevice. Since switching them to ESP and cleaning the cap they’ve stayed clean.
Looks great. I'm putting 10k miles this time on my Civics Pentius PLXL, & don't expect it to look any worse than the last one I posted c&p @ 5k miles. Will be a few more months, & will post. Possibly only a filter change & top off of the HPL that's in there now, too. Thanks for the c&p.

I have a 2016 OUtback, and tried to find a match on the Pentius website for a filter in the XL line, but all I can find anywhere is the regular white Pentius filter for my car. Where did you find this as a match for yours?
you just follow what Fram uses for your car which is a 7317 and the equivalent for Pentius XL is the 7317
Cool! I had no idea. Fram and Pentius are not the same filter though, right?
right.. Pentius is just using the same model number but if you go with one of these watch for the ones that show made in prc on the filter because they have been having issues with some of the holes in the core not punched out... Just check the core carefully.
