Hard to say it may have more compression since the amount of compression is controlled by where the filter bottoms out on the seat.I prefer the P-style as I believe it provides better or more consistent sealing. It's similar to an O-ring, less drag on contact and probably higher compression. I'm sure there's a study out there somewhere.
