This one run on 2.4L Accord with ~55k miles on the clock.
Out: Castrol GTX Full Synthetic 0w20, CarQuest Premium 84356.
In: Valvoline Restore and Protect 0w20, CarQuest Premium 84356

Topic China coo, 23. As can be seen, got a little carried away with the potting/(glue). The one solid blob going nowhere. The other, not as consolidated, but knowing what I do about bypass events, not in a twist over it. Prefer it not there? Sure. Same as previous c&p no long term plan for Valvoline Restore and Protect use, just giving it a try with AAP/CarQuest bundle and some Advance rewards.

Clarifying, this was Made in China? Based on the gasket, it's the same type all the Made In China 84356s were when I looked through AAP's stash, cherrypicking Made in Vietnam. Those use the same material for the ADBV and gasket as your ADBV.

Thank you for posting.

Thank you for clarifying coo. I'm extra dense this morning.

I deleted the pictures I took of filter..

Yes,"coo", ie., country of origin, China. As I have a few Vietnam coo CarQuest Premium in my stash, that's an accurate statement. As also noted other thread, decades of nitrile sealing gasket experience and same result as topic, no biggie to me. That said, nice value added feature.

It looks like they got slap-happy with the glue but other than that is looks great, thanks!
Any chance of cutting out the media for inspection??

I still have it so yeah. One of the things I looked forward to with the CQ holed tube was not having to cut media off to show proof louvers perfectly fine. Which 'for me', always been the case. Using exacto knife on media least favorite part of those c&ps. But since you specifically asked, I'll give it a shot. Just need a little time. Fwiw, if you're wanting to see if anything in pleats, fwiw, I rarely if ever find anything remarkable in them from my Hondas. I'll follow up with media shot(s). Yes, overdone on the potting on this one.

Yep, a little wild with the potting glue, but I bet you would need to use a flat blade screw driver and a lot of force to make any of it break off. Unlike the junk black glue used on Motorcraft and some Purolator filters.

In follow up to @martinq request, here's some shots of the media and also centertube. As I suspected with the media, to my eye nothing remarkable in the pleating to be seen. Basically same as always for me. It will be somewhat interesting to see if that changes with Valvoline Restore and Protect on two vehicles especially the older 3.0L posted with Bosch Premium 3323 recent c&p. But topic too. Plan to run same interval in similar time frame ~1 year.

Thank you, great pics! And yes, it looks great with very little build up and an even loading of carbon in the media (I wouldn't expect much with only 55k on the clock). Great looking filter and good luck with the Valvoline Restore and Protect.

I went to my local AAP and even the made in China have a silicone base gasket now. Same with the microgard select
The MicroGard Select filers I've been buying have always had a silicone base gasket.

Please forgive the two or three metal flakes I made from the hacksaw of cutting the media off. The bypass valve spring was still pushing hard on the little black plastic piece. Quality filter best I can tell.
