When it comes to Euro 5w-30 oils, Walmart only sells PP Euro L 5w-30 which is a low SAPS version that carries BMW LL-04 cert, not LL-01, at least around here.

I know a spec sheet for PP Euro 5w-30 (non-L) exists, but this oil is nowhere to be found.

They sell both at the Walmart here: Euro 5w30 and Euro 0w40

They sell Euro L 5w-30, not Euro 5w-30. These are two different oils.

The L version does not meet BMW LL-01.

And yes, they do sell Euro 0w-40. I was not disputing this part.

Correct, 5w30 Euro L is what's sold at Walmart and it meets BMW Longlife -04 (my error Pete).

Here are the specs (scroll down for larger image).

Euro (non-L) 0w40 is also sold at Walmart but meets no BMW cert

What would the noack be at most for this oil?

The flash point is low i think 210. Is that a concern?

For wear and tear minimization is there any reason to use regular platinum v this oil.?

Also the car happens to be beyond warranty mileage.

I can only comment on the flashpoint. It is 210C as measured by ASTM D93, which is about 20C lower than if measured by ASTM D92 (which is what I normally see specified)

The OLM in that car is programmed to assume you're using dexos1 oil, so I would stick to that. Besides, don't you need to stick to dexos1 for warranty purposes?

dexos2 is a completely different spec, meant for diesel engines primarily.

What problem are you trying to fix by not following the owner's manual recommendations?

I'm working on trying to get some. Someone claims they can get me the A3/B4 version, and at a reasonable price, albeit in an EcoBox. In any case, between Imperial Oil and Shell, I think I'm going to have a tantrum about container sizes very soon.
