Pedal extenders?

Hey, all,

I've recently bought an '03 Buick Park Avenue. Great car, very smooth. But the gas pedal is a bit farther away from the seat than I like. If I get the seat up to where my foot falls naturally on the pedal (I'm 5'9", by the way), the steering wheel is practically in my rib cage. I'll get used to it, I guess, but --

Anyone ever try this, the accel pedal anyway? If so, did it work well? (I have visions of it slipping off somehow while I'm driving, preventing me from hitting the gas as a giant delivery truck barrels down upon me. . . .)

Not a good position if the air bag deploys. You sure it don't have adjustable pedals

I'm exaggerating a little, but not by much. The previous owner must have been 4 feet tall or something; until I reprogrammed it, the seat left me little room to get in. No adjustable pedals -- they're not mentioned in the manual.

Extend the pedals or extend thine feet!!!!!

Get those elevator shoes with 3-inch or higher soles.

Stand above the crowd while easing the reach to the pedals.

Or bolt a 4x4 hunk of wood to the pedal. Or keep a stick handy and activate it by hand.

Got kids? Yes? There yah' go!!!!! Have the carpet crawler huddle down by your feet and use voice commands for pedal activation.

I thunk outside the box, Obbop, since I've never had to resort to pedal extenders on any previous car!

Anyway, I ordered the pedal set from GM. It comes with two extenders, one for the loud pedal and one for the screech-to-a-halt pedal.

I put the accelerator one on this morning . . . and I can't tell you what a difference it makes! The extender changes the width and angle of the pedal, at least the angle where it meets my foot, and it feels as though the car has more power because my foot hits it just right!

Though the instructions harp on using both pedal extenders together, I can't see any reason, as the brake pedal was never a problem to start with.

Best 60 bucks I've spent in a while.

The stick is what we called in the trucking industry a "gouge stick" before the widespread use of cruise control on big trucks. Just jam it between the pedal and the dash and you have hillbilly cruise control.
