I'm working on, but this bending the laws of physics is hard. It was hard enough bending them to keep my engine this clean.

It's all relative people, some say it's not that great, but for a 9-5 it's awesome.

Cleaner? Am I missing the sarcasm? There is zero sludge and nearly zero varnish? How could it be cleaner?

I wouldn't have expected varnish to appear around the cam gear area (block and cam cover). Nevertheless its still an excellent comparison to the others posted!

Actually only the last two changes have been 5w40, before that it was M1 5w30. It looks dirtier than it is, the oil is about used up, completely black now. Also everything was covered with a nice film of oil as I had to warm it up to get the valve cover off. Lastly, I told you this thing raped oil, I can show you some bad ones if you want.

If the engine cleanliness is such a high priority for you, why woudn't you try Redline?
confused.gif

It will surely keep your engine clean (possibly the cleanest than any other oil).

Having half inch sludge on most engine metal parts now explains lower metal wear in UOA with most dino's over M1 and RL oils

You can order it online.
Get a case or a couple of cases that would last a looong time.
This availability argument doesn't really cut it anymore.

So you like lugging around oil?

No,
Do you?
I change oil every 10-12K miles.
My engine doesn't burn a drop during those intervals.
The most engines don't burn enough oil to keep more than a quart in the trunk for an occasional top of.

Well some do and it's more convienent for many to pick up a quart at a store.

There is no real benefit to running Redline as oppose to M1 in most cases.

I could see availability being an issue if you burn/vaporize a quart of oil in one tank of fuel.

Otherwise, I look at the dipstick and top it off some Saturday or Sunday afternoon at home.

The only time I feel the need to take a quart with me is if I'm planning a 2K+ mile trip where I'm pretty sure I'll burn a quart in the 187K mile Geo Prizm.

If you are using a quart every 500 miles, I sure hope you are using the cheapest oil you can find. I suspect you are using ANY oil you can find at that rate.

Remember, Brian only got this car in November and has been frantically cleaning ever since. As a reminder, that enigne's been arx'd (twice) Neutra'd, LC'd, chemtool'd, redlined.

I may get my priest to come bless it and see it that helps.

No, I'll reserve that for Saab with their 10k oil changes in a turbo car which they were letting dealers put Mobil Clean as one option IIRC.

Nothing against MobilClean, just 10k intervals with it....
