Let's hope the estimate is reasonable. It doesn't take much to total a vehicle like this.AAA sent us to a nice shop (very professional) for estimate and schedule. @The Critic was spot on; they will look for a used door because it is slightly buckled. The gal opened the door and showed me a tiny crease/buckle. Funny, because the door appears to be intact besides the front edge which is bent. Everything lines up; it opens and closes perfectly.
The rest is repairable. Estimate to come tomorrow after they source a door. She agreed it is mostly paint from another vehicle.
Owner lifetime paint guarantee. Not too shabby. They are backed up until 2nd week of October.
I bet I could get the car repaired for much less by repairing the damage and avoiding the overhead of a big shop like this.
The reinforcement beam is probably compromised on the front and maybe rear, so crash protection would be affected. Some shops can repairs damage like this by the quality would be questionable and you car might lean to one side after all the body filler they use to fill in the imperfections.I bet I could get the car repaired for much less by repairing the damage and avoiding the overhead of a big shop like this.
She said it won't be totaled out, but who knows? The estimate comes tomorrow after they find a door and price out materials and labor.Let's hope the estimate is reasonable. It doesn't take much to total a vehicle like this.
You should have seen the other guy....This is my friend's 2007 TSX, one of the three I service. He came out to the parking lot after work and noticed something was amiss...

Heavy cut compound, some kind of cutting pad, maybe done by a professional if you're super duper lucky maybe you can avoid resprays. Jascar compound I've seen at least one video it removed either 600 or 800 grit sanding, that was extreme case as yours. This is my friend's 2007 TSX, one of the three I service. You mean the guy without insurance or a driver's license? Ha!You should have seen the other guy....
I'm sure she is a wonderful lady, and you were smart to marry up!Maybe my wife was shopping that day. Here’s her latest attempt to shoehorn our car into a two car garage. Photo #2 shows that I invested in a stop indicator to no avail. I tell her just center the car with the flexible stop sign and you’re fine. Not quite ready for a carrier landing apparently![]()
No. He taped up the mirror so he could drive the car. These pics were taken days after the damage. Is this a joke ? The mirrow with duck tape is dead give away . Owner bad driver
Certainly; I would. But given that the TSX is a great vehicle and this one is (was) in great shape, a repair is a good solution. The body shop includes a lifetime paint guarantee; not sure what that really means. My friend has health issues and can only work 20 hours per week. The problem with something like this is no matter how well it's taken care of, with that amount of damage, the owner will almost always notice any slight defect that will irk him no end.
Pretty close to the KBB, I guess the adjuster was able to prevent a total loss? The estimate came in at $6,900. They sourced front and rear doors. I know I could get it fixed satisfactorally for a lot less.
That’s what I said - I think it barely squeaked by. That cannot be more than a 8-9k car. $6900 + salvage value is real close.Pretty close to the KBB, I guess the adjuster was able to prevent a total loss?
