Can you change a fuel filter in a Walmart parking lot?

I thought Auto Zone’s trade mark was working on vehicles their parking lots.
I have used WM for oil changes while on long road trips with no problem .

Would you want diesel fuel in your driveway??? How about digging holes in-by your drive way entrance to slow'em down??? Or some 8" rocks laying there. OR maybe just having a talk with them???

I would certainly try to avoid the Walmart lots today. Cameras all over the place and so many strange or criminal issues seem to happen in those places the days.

What may work out easier and more hassle free without calling much attention to yourself would be at auto parts store parking lot. Simply walk into the auto parts store, make a small purchase like some work rags , GoJo or repair related items and then pull to the far side of their lot and commense your job.

In the off event any of the workers even come out to question you , just tell them you are customer , just walked out and happened to find you need to make this repair since you have an issue that popped up and is preventing to you from leaving. You will be gone as soon as you are done should get them off your case (if they even notice or bother you).

Good luck. You should have no issue knocking out such a small job if you do it early and at a local parts store who have a good bit of business. In that case they may not even notice or think anything of seeing a customer outside with hood open. I see that kind of stuff now and then. Lots of auto parts stores around us have employees who are happy to step outside to help folks diagnose things or check batteries , alternators etc... so it will not seem strange at all to most employees or customers to see you.

I can neither confirm, nor deny, that I have done fuel filter, spark plugs and wires in an auto parts parking lot. I was in the Navy and living in the barracks. It was 3 days before Christmas and I needed to get it done on my hoooptie before driving home (about 800 miles......)

I was stupid then.....

I changed diff fluid in the walmart parking lot a few years back when supertech gear oil was a steal.

Delivery driver stopped to tell me how cool the car is.

I don't think you were. You got what had to be done accomplished. I bet a lot of us had a hoooptie.... admit it or not! ;)

Well done.

You can control the dust in the road with a garden hose, or, if you're old school, used motor oil.

Even running a yard sprinkler between you and the road should form a curtain that keeps the dust from getting to you.

I did possibly notice some brass flakes at the bottom of the canister. I'll have to look into where that might be coming from. Do injector pumps have brass in them?

How does it take an hour to swap a filter?
Your neughbor doing donuts in your dooryard 24x7?
The actual process is probably 15 minutes. It's not a spin on filter, I have to remove the fender liner so I can access it on the side of the engine. Then use a 1/2 drive extension to loosen it which barely clears the frame. Then wrangle it off after draining the fuel out and disconnecting the wifi sensor and don't forget that remove the clip that holds the abs wire against the fender to keep it from flopping around. I also have the tire turned all the way to the left so I can sit inside the wheel well area while doing this, so if you're any bigger than my 125lbs, you're going to just hate life at this moment. Now if the truck was on a lift I could spin it off from underneath and it would be a very quick 20 minute job most likely

It never seems to fail....
The few times I've had sensitive components opened up, my neighbor decides it's time to mow......
oh yeah, everyone has atleast an acre out here. There is almost always someone mowing a yard off in the distance somewhere.
