Instead of regular toyota YZZD1, I want to install the longer YZZD3 on a 2000 Sienna. It seems to have enough clearance except the tip of the longer filter is getting close to the exhaust pipe. It won't touch though, maybe a spacing of one inch or so is left. Anyone think that's a problem that the can and the oil will be overheated by the exhaust? Thanks.

I doubt it is a problem. I think I am about that close on wife's Aerostar and the oversized I have been running for a year now.

I have a vehicle where the filter is about a half-inch from the exhaust manifold and it hasn't been a problem. I verified this by cutting the filter open to see if there was any coking of the oil in the filter and through UOA.

Shouldn't be a problem at all. Actually you can test this in a simplistic fashion. Hold your hand 1" from that particular section of exhaust pipe once the engine is hot, and keep it there for a short spell. If it feels anything less than intolerably hot, then it certainly wouldn't be a problem for the oil and filter.
