Oversize Mobil 1 filter for Tacoma

I'm looking for an oversize Mobil 1 filter for my 01 Tacoma (3.4L V6) to do some extended OCIs. Is there a cross reference chart somewhere around here that gives the various specs for filters? Or if anyone just happens to know...

This engine uses a common 3/4-16 thread filter that has a not atypical 2.7/2.4 gasket. It's a 3"+/- diameter can and appears to have a common bypass valve setting.

Your options are only limited by your dimensional limits in diameter and length.

That is, you can go longer only or wider only ..or both.

What are your dimensional restrictions?

The easiest thing to do may be to look up the part number for a 4WD Tacoma if yours is a 2WD... being it's the same engine. They are usually larger.

Just cross refrence the Fram PH8A it has the same threads and size etc for the adapater but is about twice the size of what is currently used. Long time ago it was common practice amoung Toyota user's to use the Fram PH8A sized filters on almost everything that went into a Truck chasis. It must of fallen out of common knoldge since then. Bach those their Redneck Parts store did not stock sewing machine oil filter so we had to make due!LOL

What are the chances an oil filter will cause engine failure?

On Purolator's website they specify that they do not warrant unlisted applications. I traded some emails with Wix, wanting to use the 51515 in place of the 51348. In the end they said no--though the 51515 does cross reference with a TRD filter (may be the same filter), but that is for V8's.

The Donaldson P169071 should fit. It has Synteq media with 99% efficiency at 22 microns. If the media has wire backing, looks to me like it would be suitable for long OCI's.

Though Amsoil no longer recommends the EaO57, I'm personally continuing to use it.

My wifes truck uses a M1-101 and the longer filter is M1-201 same thing but longer.

Your truck uses a M1-102 so check if the M1-202 is the longer version...I am willing to bet it is.

I use the Toyota OEM 90915-YZZD3, which seems to be the longest filter I can find at 3.8" long. The Mobil 1 M1-102 is 3.4" long. Hard to say if the Mobil 1 is that much better than the OEM Toyota, but could be.

Also, the K&N HP-1002 is 3.8" long.

I dont know about better I am just using them on my wifes truck because they are supposed to flow better with extended oil changes. I am going 6 month 12,500 miles on her truck and dont want issues with filters not flowing once it hit's say 10,000 miles.

This should be no more taxing than any other six month filter usage assuming it's a daily driver (which one would reasonably conclude it was given the mileage). She's got the same start up events as anyone else..and more warmed up miles than most drivers out there.

I dont know? It just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside knowing that the Mobil 1 Extended Performance filters are rated for 15,000 miles. Another thing I like about them is they have a thick can and we both drive a lot on gravel roads as well as off road in our trucks and I wanted a filter that could take a hit from a rock and not drop all my oil.

If you can't find a longer Mobil 1 then the WIX 51516 is the longer one that fits this application. I have this engine as well but after realizing more oil will spill all over the place at oil change interval and the fact the oil capacity is 6 QTs., I abandoned the idea?

The OEM direct replacement is an M1-102, but I run an oversized M1-209 on my taco when I use a Mobil 1. Its longer.
