Earlier this evening I was talking to my father in law about getting new brake pads for my Volvo. He manages an Oreilly's, it's great getting his discount. Anyway he was telling me that it had always been his and his bosses understanding that the warranty on brake pads was replacement for glazing, defects, etc. Well, he recently found out in their company newsletter that brake pads are warrantied for wear also! This includes all of their pads, even the cheap pads that have a one year warranty are included (for a year).
This is great news for anyone who keeps their vehicles for the long haul.

My Duralast front brake pads have a lifetime warranty. I am on my second set. When the first set wore to the indicator, my next set was free. Auto Zone, Advance and others have lifetime warranty on a lot of their pads. At least the last time I checked. So, it seems that OReilly's would have a similar warranty available to be competitive.

Brakes are warranted for wear only if the customer asks and the customer must have the ORIGINAL RECEIPT!!! None of this well I think its under this or that phone number because the car could of been bought from a close friend or relative. Warranty is non transferable, it doesnt work that way. This is at Oreilly Auto Parts BTW i dont know about Zone or ADV.

That's good news, iontap, because Oreilly has just moved into our town. The last time I shopped for brake pads for my daughter's Escort, it seemed to me that Autozone was the only place that still offered lifetime warranty for WEAR.

It's a marketing gimmick of sorts, because it gets people into the store and they tend to buy other stuff. But, it is a good deal. Receipts are easy to keep.

I wonder who makes the Oreilly pads and what quality they are?

And....only 200 posts for one of BITOG's "founding members"????

NAPA has had that policy for decades.

Glad to know that the store's management is right on top of corporate policy

???Hmmmmm, then it must be a regional thing. Of the dozen auto parts stores I called, none offered free lifetime replacement of brake pads for simply wearing out, except AZ.

For fun, I just called two NAPA stores and they said warranty was for defects only, not wear out.

Please, which stores in your area offer free lifetime replacement of worn out pads?

Either their staff doesn't know (as the case in the OP) or NAPA has changed their policy. When I worked there and for several years afterward they replaced "premium" pads for life, It was only certain lines of pads. I used to own a 4x4 truck with much larger than original tires and made use of the replacement policy several times at a couple of different stores.
There was a certificate in the box that had the warranty conditions and you had to fill out installer info and mileage.

I've returned lifetime pads due to wear to AZ, and they just needed my phone number.

Agreed! I buy Duralast batteries from AZ. Though I save reciept, I'm fairly confident that if it went bad my purchase date/warranty is in their computer. The warranty is supposed to be honored nation wide so it only makes sense. If it failed under warranty and I happened to be out of town, I'd expect a replacement.
