We have four dogs and needed to replace our great Electrolux as it was 20 years old. We found out that the original Electrolux company is no longer in business but that another company bought the name and put it on their vacuums a couple of years ago. We researched and ended up with a Kenmore which has turned out to be just as good as the old electrolux, though it was rather expensive. We waited until it was on sale and saved $100.

We love our Oreck's. We have 2. One for downstairs and one upstairs. One is atleast 10 yrs old and the other about 5. No problems out of either.

So I looked at the Orecks yesterday and they seem to work well. Very simple in design and I can get all the parts at any of the 8 or so Oreck stores in the area. They have their line for consumers that have long warentees and prepaid tuneups but it looks to me like you get the same vacuum for half price if you get the Oreck commercial line. They had one called a xl2100 that had two speeds and a longer cord, the only difference is it comes with one year warrente. Looks like a deal to me! It also looks retro and not all fancy like the new ones. $199 if I buy one $179 if I buy two and $159 if I buy 3 or 4 I cant remember what the lady said?? Anyone in Atlanta looking to buy a new vac?? If not thats fine $199 is a decent price on these IMO.

PLUS forgot to mention being a BITOG fan I'm pretty sure I can handle a vaccum tune up myself! If I cant change a vac bag and belt I have no business being on this site!

Just bought a new Oreck this week. What a great differance over the Hoover bagless. The Hoover still runs, but it doesn't have near the power or ease of operation that the Oreck is. Also the small portable unit came with it for hard to reach areas.

That portable unit is pretty nice and powerful.
