The last few model years of the SL's didn't quite burn like the ones in the 1990s. And some claim that using synthetic from the start eliminated the problem...

If your going to change it every 7500 miles or less I would just stick with Platinum. You are not gaining anything from Ultra or Edge in my opinion.

If your the original owner and doing 4000 miles a year you could use almost anything SM/GF4 rated with yearly changes.
