4L 49.90eur = 12.48eur/L = $16.50/L
GM 5w30 Dexos2
5L 24.90eur = 4.98eur/L = $6.60/L

A qt is something like 0.95L so not a big difference. I wonder why the GM product is so much cheaper?

Is the GM oil conventional?

I guess it's got to be conventional. It is an SM,LL04,B4,C3,Dexos2 oil however. TBH it doesn't even smell like a syn oil does

LOL...want me to buy some at the dealer and just send it to you? Even with customs it'll still be cheaper. :-)

FYI the local Audi dealer here sells it for $7.22/L USD.

It just occurred to me that this probably explains the proliferation of oil monitoring systems on european vehicles. At those prices you'll want to squeeze every mile out of the life of the oil.

Most of synthetics are almost A$20 a Litre here in Australia..
Fuchs GT1 0w-20 1L A$21.
Mobil1 0w-40 1L A$19.95.
Mobil1 5w30 1L A$20.95
Castrol 0w-40 1L A$19.95.

Crazy prices.

Did the prices push the extended drains, or did the extended drains push the prices?

Just done the math and for the Castrol Edge 5w30 I need for my Seat Ibiza (VW Group), converted to US prices and with our our VAT at 20% now I'm paying the Sterling equivalent of about $70 for four litres.
I must admit I was quite surprised at how cheap your engine oil seams in the US

(don't even ask how much Petrol and Diesel are here now...)

I was just talking with my mate in the UK about fuel prices... right now the equivalent of 56p/liter for petrol here; £1.23/litre over the pond!

When I was in Slovakia a while back, a 4 liter jug of Shell Helix Ultra (in the older blue bottle) was €68 at the local Shell station... that's $90 or £57, and not even enough for one oil change on either of my TDIs.

(sorry to go off topic)
£1.23p a litre was what I last paid just after Xmas but come January 2nd our beloved government stuck the exise duty up which coincided with a rise in VAT to 20%. I'll pay at least £1.28p a litre when I next fill up

The Director of the White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy (aka Energy Czar),Carol Browner, appointed by our President has said it would be good policy to add a five to ten dollar a quart federal tax on the sale of engine oil and to make it illegal for private citizens to change engine oil without a permit and an EPA environmental impact study along with requirements to document and record all such environmentally risky activity. The same requirements would apply to coolant, brake fluid and transmission fluid.

Soviet America.

Now unlike ever before, it's so important to become involved with informing the public. I fear these people more than any other threat to our nation.

The bad thing is most people don't change their own oil, and will go along with it; especially when they say it will create more jobs.

Stocking up!

Not quite; the president has been misquoted for quite some time. He actually said "An oil change you can believe in".

A friend of a friend told you that or do you have a source to back up the above statement?

What about my push mower and snow thrower, leaf blower and line trimmer. Will we have to take all our yard equipment to a repair shop for lawnmowers just to get the oil changed? Every day I turn around I here the MOST a s s -in-ine ideas come out of our so called leadership.
