Question on the Rotella T synthetic.

Just changed oil in my 2.9 Bronco2 with the newer CJ4 blue jug 5-40.
(it taps much less on startup with this in cold weather)

I have a quart of the old CI4+ RTS 5-40 that i kept as a spare/ top off from last year.

Are there any ill effects to add this CI4+ to the CJ4 as a top off?
Will the additive packages combine and cause thermonuclear meltdown?

LOL!

Just call before you do it, so I can get to my shelter

I have done so, in ATV's, and the blast was negligible. I noticed no problems, but did not do a UOA.

No.

No compatibility whatsoever. CI4+ just has higher additive content. Both are excellent grp III base oils.

I think you meant to say incompatibility

....we don't want to confuse the guy.

Yep--I gagged. Incompatitiblity is the right word. RTS is for sure one of my favorite flavors.

Does anyone know when quart bottles of the new CJ-4/SM RTS will be available? I've seen quarts at Walmart but only the older CI-4 formulation like what the OP has.

My car takes 5 quarts and it would be nice to find matching little buddies for my gallon containers, lol.
