I did email redline and they answered me back very quickly. They wanted me to go with the 10w40 they offer. I find that most companies out there all have their product and will push it. I need some non bias in my answers. But a very nice guy that answered me very quickly.

The Redline 10W40 is a very good product. It would be a waste for 3,000 mile drains though.

I understand, But will it do a better job than others oils? or not really? Keep in mind this is not a daily driver. It usually takes 6 months to get to 3000, unless it is summer when i drive it the most.

That's pretty slick.

I'd use Red Line 10-40, with T6 as a cheaper option. Your annual cost over less-expensive oils will be what... $50-$100? Cheap insurance.

After lots of reading I am more confused than when I started but I think I have made up my mind that I want to stay on Non synthetic based on the fact I will personally change my oil so frequently. Of those choices I will stay with a 15w40

So I am now looking at these and out of these, which do you guys feel safer recommending?

Valvoline Premium Blue 15W-40
Shell Rotella 15W-40
Pennzoil Long Life 15W-40
Delo 400 LE SAE 15W-40
Delo 400 Multigrade SAE 15W-40

I wouldnt run a fleet diesel 15w40 in anything gas, esp a performance engine unless it was a stick gas dump truck or delivery van. You'll be leaving lots of power and response in the oil as sheared heat energy. No need for HDEO with Mg dispersants if you decide to go this way. Look at the PDS. There has to be a modern and affordable 10w40 PCMO/RACE oil out there that will work adequately.

How much experience does this builder have with these engines?
It may be that he has found 15W-40 HDEOs to perform very well in these engines on short drains.
Presumably the guy has a reason for recommending a 15W-40.
If you're going to be doing short drains anyway, I'd load up on Delvac 1300 and take advantage of the rebate.
There would probably be no benefit in using a more expensive oil on 3K drains, and the dual rated fleet oils will stand up to heat very well.

Pennzoil Long Life is no longer made.

They moved all the HDEO under the Rotella Badge.

Rotella T3 = CJ4 version Pennzoil Longlife.

Rotella T Triple Protection = CJ4 version of traditional Rotella T.

Rotella T3 is difficult to find unless bought in bulk from a distributor.

Ive been seeing 1300+ ppm zinc and 1100+ ppm Phosphorus in my used Rotella T3 samples after 30,000 miles in a Diesel Engine.
