I decided that I needed some exercize. I should have walked around WalMart but instead I climbed a hill.

This hill is near my house in Apple valley,Ca and is called Bell mountain because it's shaped like a bell.

Looking up. It don't look too bad.

At least all you had to worry about was rattle snakes and heart attacks instead of getting trampled.

Looks like a a pretty good climb.

Have you checked the hill out on Google Earth? They should let you check the altitude of any spot on the map.

If this is Bell Mountain, the top looks to be about 3,860'. The base is hard to define but 3,200 would do, I think. You can google it; just north of Apple Valley, east of I-15, south of the community of Bell Mountain.

Did a hill walk like that on my honeymoon in the middle of the nevada desert. Had a rental convertible and left the top down. Joked to my bride that we could see people breaking in but not really yell at them to stop with much authority.

697 feet is a pretty good hike. It is amazing how far it is when you look down at where you came from.
I have hiked Mt Pilchuck north of Seattle, it is 5300 ft high with 2100 elavation gain. I hiked it with my uncle and Daughter years ago and it took the better part of the day. I was real proud of making it to the top. Then I see an older couple in their seventies coming down. That deflated my ego real quick.

I could just make out the floating bridges on lake Washington in Seattle with binocs about 30 miles away.

I like to equate height to football fields to put it in perspective. So if you hiked 697 ft it would be 2 1/3 football fields.
