Oil Supply in Stores

Walmarts south of Houston have been bare for the last month. Went in the Pearland store today looking for rv antifreeze and the shelves were fully stocked. One week ago they were super picked over. I went in the Missouri City store on friday and walked the oil isle for grins. Literally nothing but Supertech 5-20 in jugs, and 3 quarts of 5-30…..everything else was gone. Like literally gone. I wish i would have had my phone with me. First thing i thought was “**** i need a picture of this to post on BITOG.” Lol
??? I thought people drag their RVs down to Texas so they wouldn't need pink juice over the winter. :)

The Walmart in Wasilla, Alaska was bare for about 2 weeks until it was magically stocked overnight. Funny how that happens. Ended up picking up a 12-qt box of Mobil 1 0W-40, since that's all they really had on the oil shelves. I'll give that to my son who drives a 2013 Sportwagen with a 2.5L.

I'll put Kirkland 5W-30 in my Chevy truck and SUV over the winter until it gets terribly cold. Then, I'll likely switch to a 0W-40. Our local Walmart doesn't seem to carry Castrol 0W-40, so I may have to use Mobil. :(

This is relatively normal for Walmart stores all over the country, is it not ? This has been like this for years. Every other week there's a thread about "Is Walmart dropping (brand X)?" or similar topic based on empty spots on shelves.

Mobil 1 and M1 EP 5w30 in the 5 quart jugs and the 12 quart boxes have been out for a while at my local Walmart. This last weekend looks like they finally got a few jugs in. The Havoline Pro DS 5w30 smart change box has been missing also. I think Pennzoil 5w30 is also scarce. People are just really hammering on the 5w30 right now and the M1 rebate is expiring soon also. Seems like Castrol and Valvoline haven't been affected as much.

Agree with others in here,
#1 its Walmart and their success with low prices makes them unable at times to keep up with stock.
#2 There are supply chain issues all over the world, its not just about oil, its about everything that can be purchased. From Apples to Zucchini

Dont know about others but hell, Find me a Honda or any dealer with more then a few cars in stock, the lots are empty and Walmart doesnt own them.)

The world economy stopped for a full year in 2020 and much of the world still stopped in 2021, we take for granted that the vaccine is available to everyone and anyone in the USA. Other countries, with luck are just starting back up as the vaccine SLOWLY becomes available to them. Shipping rates through the roof by 100's of a percent.
I would expect by 2023 we should be catching up with demand but who knows?

Lol. We full time but it is going into storage for the next 6 months while we are in Colorado. After south Texas “Freezagedon” last year im not taking any chances.

Significant supply issues for me as an installer.
SOPUS products saw a 20% price increase in addition to several moderate increases since January.
Cased products are especially hard to find. I have yet to see bulk deliveries impacted but have been
warned of upcoming shortages. The bigger issue right now are filter shortages. The largest supplier to
the fast lube industry (Service Champ) is basically out of filters, both oil and air. I have been buying a ton
of oil from WMart lately online and in store.
We need to get people back to work to help raise this sinking ship.
I fear it will only get worse from here on out. I hope I'm wrong.

Is it just me or has anyone noticed that some oils that were always in stock are now hit or miss. I stopped by my local Walmarkts this weekend and the shelves were less that half stocked. Several weights and brands completely out of stock. I will say that this particular store is known for poor customer service and not keeping their shelves stocked.
Yep, notice this in my area as well...a while ago...

My worry will be the gas, diesel and food supply. You can drive the car with older oil but with out gas the car is play ground equipment.

I have not stepped foot in a Walmart since... 1. They stopped selling Ammo. 2. The Gustavo stop you at the door and won't let you in without a face mask or proof of getting the jab.

Not surprised that stuff is running low with the current situation going on.
I think it's good when the mega stores do this, now maybe folks will visit the gunsmith in my little town.
I haven't seen any Germans at the front door of the Local WM supercenter.
I thought they were all up in Michigan and Wisconsin?

Spoiled, spoiled; selfish the country has become. The greatest Generation must be roiling at our conduct.

I believe its spelled "Gestapo" and NOPE, just came through WI 2 weeks ago and didnt see any, none here at home in MI either.

I visited one of the largest Walmart stores in my area this weekend. I did not see any 0w20 on the shelves. None. They had plenty of 5w30, 5w20, 10w30 etc, but no 0w20.

My local WM recently got restocked and the shelves were bulging with motor oil, air filters, and oil filters, but no 0w16.

I haven't seen the 5 qt jug of M1-0w16 online or in stores in quite some time at both WM and AMZN.

A follow up to my previous post a few posts up on this page.
I kind of am up to date on this stuff as my wife's company ships from all over the world and this is currently a major issue. Expect it to last for a couple years as the world catches up with production after covid.
This highlights how bad it is =

I have noticed it’s short everywhere. We have been on the hunt for Rotella for my dads Freightliner for about a month but can’t find it anywhere he uses the T4 15W-40 yesterday we went to Tractor Supply and they are sold out, Rural King was out last week, Walmart has been out so yeah and that includes other oil too. Especially 0W-20 which I guess is the most popular these days the shelves are always bare on that. At work we have had a problem getting Subaru 0W-20 and Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20 and those are the two we use the most. We had a customer flip the other day because we used Toyota 0W-20 in his Subaru but it’s all we had besides Mitsubishi 0W-20.
