Mid-OCI Filter Change w/HPL Oil

All I’m seeing from this thread is if Porsche were to bestow a “free” certification test and its approval after the “pass” result on HPL’s Euro oil, a lot of ex-Porsche owners may still own those cars…

Not sure I follow. Are you saying this was a certified pre owned car from Porsche with its piston rings completely full of carbon?

My hypothesis is: the PCV valve on these VW VR6 engines has a fragile diaphragm that fails right around 50k mi. It causes oil consumption, and I expect this causes the rings to become gummed up. From there a death spiral of oil consumption ensues. It's not uncommon to hear of Touaregs burning a qt every 500mi. I assume my PCV was replaced before I took ownership at 55k mi. It's not caused me issues.

I've used this video as an example in another post, but this guy does a nice video for the PCV replacement. Not long after he posts this with oil consumption at 1qt/1k mi:

Coincidence?
