Oil recommendation for E55 AMG

I’ve been rotating a few different oils through my E55 AMG (M113K) and figured I’d post this UOA to get some outside perspective. I’ve learned the hard way that you really need to run an oil at least twice before making strong conclusions, since the chemistry needs some time to establish itself, so take this for what it is. This sample is from about 900 miles, and the car has just under 195k miles.

This run was on Driven DT40. The car is daily driven, sees a decent number of short trips, and has light modifications. Even though it’s a port-injected engine, I’m not surprised to see some fuel dilution given the way the car gets used.

Where I’m stuck is deciding whether I should just stick with DT40, switch to HPL Euro or HPL supercar or simplify things and run Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5W-40. Mobil is cheapest then HPL then Driven— I don’t mind spending the money if there’s a real, tangible benefit from HPL or driven. But if the difference is marginal, I’d rather not chase boutique oils for no reason.

My goal is to push oil change intervals safely and keep the engine happy long-term, not just chase good UOA numbers. Curious what others would run in a higher-mileage M113K that’s driven regularly. Would you stay with DT40, move to HPL, or just go with Mobil 1 and call it good?

I like the way you're thinking and the way you spelled it all out what you are looking to achieve. With that, we use Mobil 1 Euro in cars we service including the AMG's. It is readily available, meets spec and does the job. I think that's all you need in my opinion.

Part of the reason to run the HPL Euro 5W40 is extending OCIs. The 900 mile used oil analysis doesn't tell you much. I'm not familiar with the Driven product you are using. Mobil 1 would clearly be fine as well. What sort of OCIs do.you do now? I run the HPL in my old B5.5 W8 Passat...just did a 2 year/10k mi interval. Will see what the used oil analysis shows when I get it in a few weeks. I'm sure it's fine. I run the same HPL in my Sportwagen that sees track use and do longer drains on that car as well even with the track time. used oil analysis look great. Very good product

I don't see the benefit to DT40 here, it's the most expensive option but isn't really an extended drain street oil, more of a streetable trackday oil.

HPL makes sense to me if you're comfortable running 3x the OCI compared to Mobil 1 0w40. But if not to extend the interval, I don't see a huge need on a pump gas, port-injected daily.

Do you know the difference between HPL euro and HPL super car? looks like that what I'll try

Same oil.
And if you went Mobil one would you do esp x3 x4 or fs and would you go for a 0w40 or a 5w40 Ive heard that Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 0w40 shears rather easily but this forum says that its good and a bit of shear isn't a problem sometimes this car sees 0 degree Fahrenheit starts so is the 0w40 a better call?

The Mobil 1 0W-40 FS will be fine. As will the 5W at a 0 deg F min.

If you don't have a GPF, FS is perfectly fine. Compared to other commodity euro oils, FS shears very little. ESP is better but pricing isn't as good as WM/Amazon for the 5qt jugs of FS.

Mobil 1 0W40 FS is PAO/GTL/Group III.
Mobil 1 5W40 FS is GTL/Group III.
Go 0W40 between those two.

I ran extensively Mobil 1 0W40 FS on track. I ran it to 300f and still did 5k OCI. It is entry track oil for Mobil 1.

I have 3 tuned/boosted AMGs....switched them all to HPL Euro 5w40/0w40..........I'd go with HPL. Its the best honestly. No other oil on the market uses the highest quality components to make an oil.

That being said, Mobil 1 0w40 performs just as well, especially if the motor is stock......its cheap also. Probably best cheap oil on the market

E55 is a quick little car....bullet proof engine also
