I’ve been rotating a few different oils through my E55 AMG (M113K) and figured I’d post this UOA to get some outside perspective. I’ve learned the hard way that you really need to run an oil at least twice before making strong conclusions, since the chemistry needs some time to establish itself, so take this for what it is. This sample is from about 900 miles, and the car has just under 195k miles.
This run was on Driven DT40. The car is daily driven, sees a decent number of short trips, and has light modifications. Even though it’s a port-injected engine, I’m not surprised to see some fuel dilution given the way the car gets used.
Where I’m stuck is deciding whether I should just stick with DT40, switch to HPL Euro or HPL supercar or simplify things and run Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5W-40. Mobil is cheapest then HPL then Driven— I don’t mind spending the money if there’s a real, tangible benefit from HPL or driven. But if the difference is marginal, I’d rather not chase boutique oils for no reason.
My goal is to push oil change intervals safely and keep the engine happy long-term, not just chase good UOA numbers. Curious what others would run in a higher-mileage M113K that’s driven regularly. Would you stay with DT40, move to HPL, or just go with Mobil 1 and call it good?
