My girlfriend has a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe with approx
290K kms and it burns a little oil
any recommendations on oil type and grade to help with this problem. We live in Canada, so available here and for this climate..... Thanks in advance..

Could use Quaker State Defy or another high-mileage type oil.

Alot of people have had good success with it for minor burning.

i have heard good things about this oil but and please correct me if i am wrong it has a higher level of zinc correct? zinc is bad for catalytic converters. if you are burning oil and it continues to burn with defy wont it shorter the cat even more than regular oil?

mobil super 5000 high mileage oil would work well. also i recommend sticking with the recommended viscosity. the worst mistake (imo) is to put thicker oil to slow the burning down. after all blow by means oil is passing through, that means its lubing that cylinder on its way to be burned. use a cheap quality conventional such as mobil super high mileage which is only $13.50 for 5 quart jug at walmart. a bargain for oil burners!
