Hey everyone so my 2014 dart gt has the 2.4l they are known to burn oil. Mine uses about a quart in 3,000 to 4,000 miles.
It calls for 0w20 what could I run in it that would have a better shot of reducing the oil consumption. I'm obviously not concerned greatly but if I can easily minimize it I will. Thanks all

Same engine in my ProMaster City. Ugh, what an awful setup. 9 speeds and never knows which one to choose. But I digress. Mine uses a quart about every 4k. From new on factory fill, Valvoline Synpower 0w20, Pennz 5w30, and I even got angry enough to drain half and refill with 15w40 HDEO. No change, a quart every 4k no matter what is in the sump. FIAT: Fill It Again Tony. Maybe Failing In Advanced Tribology.

I use PP 0W-20 in my 2013 Dart w the 2.0L. Uses half a quart or less per OCI - about 7500 miles - I follow the OLM.

Castrol Edge 0w-20 is pretty thick.PPU is pretty thick.Castrol Magnatec 0w-20 is the thickest.

Does anyone think running a 5w30 would negatively affect anything in regards to the multi air system? O even a 0w3?
Or do we think a grade thicker would help with consumption or help engine longevity in anyway to make it beneficial?

The bigger question is how are you feeling/doing?? That's a very important question. I hope that you are feeling better.

I don't think a quart every 3,000-4,000 miles is going reduce the longevity of your engine. Try some thick 0w-20s.

No better no worse. They took me off all the meds for now because i had awful side effects on every thing they prescribed.

Yeah medication side effects can be worse than the actual condition they are meant to treat. I just hope that you can be safe and not have any spells while driving. That is of utmost importance in this circumstance.

Between pp syntec synpower and Mobil 1 which one is currently the highest quality oil?

Well if they all meet API SN, ILSAC GF-5, Dexos, HTO-06, and ACEA A1/B1.... Which I think all of those oils likely all meet. Then they are all extremely similar in performance in your car. Then it is just a matter of what you prefer.

For your Dart - they should all work well - no big difference if you're following the OLM. I doubt a 5w30 would hurt, especially down south where you are. Might cost you a tenth of an mpg - try it for a run and see how the car does.
