Oil for 6.6L L8T

I traded in my 24 Silverado 3.0 for a 26 Silverado 2500 with the 6.6L gas engine. Going to do my early break-in oil changes at 500mi and 1500mi. I would like some ideas before I go to HPL. I don't want to spend almost $300 for short oil change intervals lol. I was thinking of going to a 0W/5W-40, I feel like the spec'd 30 grade is too light for the towing I will be doing in the near future.

5w30 is fine but I have started adding 10w30 to hopefully slow consumption on my work truck. I hate checking oil in that thing.

Yeah, Any off the shelf 10w-40 SP or 5/0w-40. I ordered some of that Super Car from Oreilly's Auto if you have one of them around.

If you’re going to tow with it, I’d run Delo XSP 5W40, which has an hths of 4.2. It’s reasonably priced (given your planned short oci’s initially), and you can catch some deals at times.

My vote is to just grab a couple of $27 jugs of Mobil 1 0w-40 from Walmart

HPL PCEO 5w-40 with a carquest premium 84502 for 12k miles is what i run in L8T’s. they run great.
