Yesterday while backing out of my garage with the Suzuki it blew at least a quart of Maxlife 5w-30 all over the driveway. Used a Purolator 14610 at the most recent OC maybe 250 miles ago. Filter seemed tight so I replaced it with a identical filter and parked it. The filter looked fine, not double gasketed. Cleaned up the oleaginous mess with kitty litter. At least the car had enough respect not to let me drive away before it had a malfunction. Not trusting the new filter I replaced it today with a ST4967. It does not leak. Checked my oil filter shelf for more defective items and found a recently purchased Bosch filter for my Ford. It has a large bolus of hard dark brown material on the inside (return tube) of the filter. I suspose this is excess glue from the end cap and filter element. Last year I had a Motorcraft FL500S develop a leak on the Ford. Replaced it with a WIX. Think I will shift completely to ST filters. The rest are hugely disappointing. What is happening to OF quality?
Maybe I will buy a Tesla. They are made in the US and I'm told they don't need oil filters.
