Oil cooler and Gauges on JD Z320m

I got the B&S OE cooler and filter adapter for the cheap. Well built part and I'll use the cooler over what I had pervious bought. It has a bracket that would fit perfect but the dipstick tube is in the way. So going to mount sideways with the hoses sticking towards the front then down to the filter adapter, one on each side of the filter.

It will go right over the engine model nameplate so I need to remove and relocate that. But a 3" square hole or so cut into the cover and then a couple holes drilled for mounting bolts.

I don't know what kind of hose and fittings B&S used but the hoses had to be cut off.

I just got the oil filter aluminum cooler. I work on getting on and clear anything in the way...

Shoz - I do like your version better. Once you get it working correctly, can you make a list of everything you need and do for replication? Thanks

If you don't mind spending the money for the Kawasaki their OE equipment filter base bolts right on and has air blowing down from the engine cover across it. It just mounts to the filter base. No hoses or adapters needed. But if you have a lip under the oil filter that will have to be cut off. Mine does.

This appears to be the John Deere version of the B&S type.

I like the BS10 version more as I think it would cool better. The one on ebay doesn't include the adapter for the oil filter, just the cooler and lines. I will keep looking...

So after trying to get it to work as B&S does mounted on the engine cover over a hole, if you want to use the bracket that comes wit it that's not going to work. The bracket is shaper to adaptor the curvature of the motor housing. But the dipstick is in the way on the Kawi motors. You can put it in front behind the seat but the seat base gets in the way when lifting it.

So going back to mounting on top of the screen over the flywheel. Waiting on the next oil change as I had to take the oil bypass adapter off for new oring.

Yeah I have found pressure washers and riding mowers run really hot oil.

That’s why I ended up going with Amsoil & HPL.

“Oil is cheap compared to replacing / rebuilding engines” is what I keep reading on this forum but only a handful of members appear to agree to this in practice…
