finally changed oil in our 11 year old Sears 4 H.P. push mower , which must have been about 4 years ago or more . So , did a 50/50 mix of PENNZOIL Platinum 5w30 and the Pennzoil Advanced Formula ( dino ) in a 10w30 . Darn thing started on 3rd pull after long winter and worked like a charm . Will do another 50-50 blend in few months to flush it out ( bit dirty all ready ) . Keep my fingers crossed

I had a similar situation with a 13 year old Sears push mower that I abused trying to kill it so I could justify buying a new one to the better half. Didn't change the oil for several years, spark plug ran for 7 years unchanged, etc. She wouldn't die, even when my neighbor borrowed it and told me on return that he put some oil in it cause it was bone dry. So I decided last year to fix her up and see how long she would last. I ran some PP through for 1/2 the summer. It spit and complained a little, and never really did run right. So I switched to MaxLife 30w (found on sale at AAP for $1.50/qt) and she has been smooth sailing ever since. Since the thing took that much abuse and wouldn't die, I am actually very fond of it now. Now that I am taking decent care of it, it will probably give up the ghost in the next year, just to pay me back...
