I'm using Pennzoil Ultra and I notice that there is more oil burn off than other oils I've used which includes Valvoline Synpower and Amzoil XL7500.Any thoughts?Joe

I had the same issue on the Mazda with the first use of PP. I added a quart in 4000 miles. The second oil change it didn't use any.

I've read reports of PP burn off, Amsoil burn off, Mobil 1, Castrol, and others burning off after a change from another brand or grade of oil. In a healthy engine it usually goes back to normal the second or third OCI using the product. It is really nothing to worry about.

ive never experienced burn off unless the engine is worn, my 2 cents

I did about 6000 miles on the PP the first OCI it was pretty black when drained. The PP has about 3500 miles on it so far and it looks as clean as it did when it came out of the bottle. I would say it did some cleaning that first use.

Before I started using Pennzoil Ultra in my pontiac 02 with 2.2 ecotec, I've been using Mobil 1 for 9 years. It started to burn oil at 50k with 5w30. I've tried Mobil 1 10w30, 5w30HM, 10w30HM, and 0w40. All of those Mobil 1 burned about a quart in 7k miles.
Switched to Pennzoil Ultra previous interval and in 3k miles - 0 consumption. I was simply amazed. In 3k miles Mobil 1 would burn about half a quart.
Just wanted to share my experience.
