OCI for Kia Rio5.....Low yearly KM's

Wife has a 2008 Kia Rio5 and she only logs about 9000 kms /5400 miles a year...car currently has 10500kms....any thoughts if I could run OCI for a year ? I usually change it in the spring and fall but if I could run a whole year I would. Currently using 5w-20 GTX QS Filter....Thanks.

Short trips or long infrequent trips?

I personally would use a quality synthetic and change it yearly if you like or go 7500 miles. I have posted several UOA's on my 2006 Rio. PP and amsoil XLM both looked good beyond 5k miles. The G4ED is a bit rough on TBN.

Mostly low km city trips and once a week 80km tripon highway to visit parents.

Canada will require a fall/spring oil change. No need for synthetic. Rio 5 is a Nice little car, drives and handles very well - much better than my yaris - though the yaris is a bit "gutsier".

Yeah I would say you would beat the Rio on the drag strip !

Just use a good syn oil and you can easily do 5400 miles/annual changes.

Does the Kia have the 10 year or 100,000 mile warranty like the Hyundai? If so, be sure you adhere to the time and mileage intervals required in the owner's manual, along with the required grade of oil.
