I needed a brushcutter to get some land cleared of briars ect.I didn't want to drive to 30 miles to a dealer for Stihl,or other brands of that type.So i picked up a Poulan Pro trimmer/brushcutter.As I began to read the owners manual on the front cover in bold letters it states"FOR OCCASIONAL USE ONLY".It is pretty powerful, runs good enough. Also comes with trimmer head and with the brushcutting blade. But that kinda funny I think.

That is rich.....

"FOR OCCASIONAL USE ONLY" - that's pretty much how I treat any tools that involve yard work the last couple years.

It is made by the Eluctrolux group.Mabe that was meant to be on a vacum cleaner's manual instead.

Ha! yeah, Electrolux group used to be American Yard Products. They bought out Poulan as well. Sears sources much of their outdoor power equipment from them. Have so for probably 30+ years. I believe their OPE factories are in South Carolina (where the tractors and stuff are made).

I have a craftsman tractor. Not to bad.I do like the way Poulan has a parts shelf for their chainsaws trimmers ect at most stores. Now weather or not you will be buying or replacing those parts more than other brands is another question.

One more comment and I'll let this die.Kind of funny that you would make a product with the word "PRO" as a part of it's name and do that.I'm reasonalbly sure it doesn't say "FOR OCCASIONAL USE ONLY" anywhere on the box.Don't know how it will hold up but it is pretty powerfull.

I have an old 25cc Weedeater that literally says right on the back it's only rated for 50 hours. That's one oil change in your lawnmower!

The thing only lasted about 3-4 hours though...

Hey Mine is a "PRO" should get double what you did.lol.I just read that "50 hour durability"on mine.Near the spatk plug.I guess for $135 what can you expect. If I can get cleared what I need with it I'll be happy.49 hours and counting.

As far as I know that rating is not for actual engine life, it's for rated emissions compliance. At 51hrs it *may* spew more goodness into the atmosphere.

That's how I understand it as well. But look at it another way... if it "falls" that much out of "tune" at 60 hours that the emissions are off it will also get harder to start. And in doing so will likely result in foul language and possibly slung into a nearby dumpster.

Well, I'm still waiting for one to at least hit 10 hours.

Maybe it's just part of the EPAs evil plan to get us all to buy a new weed wacker every year?

I know I said my last post on this two posts ago.I'm wondering if there are any diffrences between the Poulan famous or infamous green saws and their regular trimmers,an the diffrent colored ones they label "PRO"?Some of the saws state they have a chromed cylinder.Just wondering.

I see there are 2 types of Poulan "Pros" there is the burgandy color ,that's what I have. It's 1 year warranted. Then there are the yellow colored "Pros" they have 2 year wanranty.I guess they are the high end you might say.

The yellow plastic makes them last longer.

If you have to ante up $135.00 to get into the game, why not throw in another $50.00 and get an Echo product? You'd be better off in the long run. From my experience, Echo is a tough act to follow in every category. Price, reliability, durability, ease of starting, noise level, fuel consumption and comfort. You get a lot for the extra few bucks!
