Not getting the internet speed I pay for

Plus that's ridiculous speed. I have 5mb and I've never thought it was slow. 5mb is what, 20x slower?
200x slower. It’s…. Manageable if you’re not a heavy user or have multiple users in a house. If I tried making my wife and kids use a 5mbps connection there would be a mutiny in my house.

As WWilson said, without that 80mhz channel option you’re going to be limited.
 
Either log onto the router or look in your adapter config on your PC.
I logged into my router/modem. I'm not so sure what I'm looking for. Why's it say I'm connected to 16 channels?

Verify your Wi-Fi router settings via the admin page, ( 192.168.1.1 ) or ( http://myrouter.local/ )
The default administrator password of an unconfigured router is admin. If you have changed it, enter the new password instead

Paying for 600 Mpbs down, 20 Mpbs up.. results on a iMac using 5 Ghz wifi.

The router is a older Netgear AC2350 (Nighthawk X4 R7500V2).

You have a separate Wi-Fi router (Mentioned Linksys WRT1900?) which would be your Linksys WIFI and then you have a Motorola modem. The Modem receives the data, than the LINKSYS Router WIFi lets the data be assessable...
The 16 channels DOWN/ 4 CHAN Up are the CABLE STREAM connections from the MODEM to SERVERS, NOT the MODEM to ROUTER.. You would need two LOG INTO the LINKYSYS (links above) and make sure all settings are correct.. Also for verification purposes, eliminate the Linksys router altogether, direct connect the cable modem via ethernet into your computer and then run another test, you should have near you paid for advertise speed under direct ethernet connection.
 
One last thing I noticed is...

Do you have both the WIFI from your MODEM/ROUTER combo (MOTO25FC) and your LINKSYS router enabled?

As in do you have (2) separate 2G networks, and )2) separate 5G networks showing up under your WiFi?

The MG7550 is a cable modem and router combination. No Linksys in the house anywhere. 😁

It says it's supposed to handle up to 300 Mbps download speed. That would be way faster than what I've got now.

All I have is one modem and one computer. No TVs or anything like that. I should probably call Xfinity tomorrow.

Is it possible that the router just isn't up to the task? Should I spring for a new one or get my ISP tech support involved first? If I replace it, I think I'm going with a mesh system, as the house is around 3500 sq ft.
Is it possible you borrow another router to see if the results change at all? I've had several Linksys routers, and after nothing but long term problems, I now run Asus routers with an AI mesh. My modem is a Motorola Surfboard SB6141, with Spectrum as a provider. When the Surfboard is power cycled, updates are pushed. That can make a difference also. Speed problems can create frustration. I hope you nail it down.
 
If you're using wireless (computer, smartphone, tablet, etc) - and I realize WiFi is far, far more prevalent than wired today - you're first testing your wireless router's speed capability. If it's slower than your internet provider's advertised rate, STOP. You're not paying your ISP for 500 Mb/s or Gigabit speed over WiFi, you're paying for that speed outside of your home. Solve your wireless/WiFi speed issue, if applicable, first.
 
Don't discount how quickly actual speeds deteriorate compared to "theoretical" maximum speeds.

That's the difference between what my network is capable of and what wifi is able to provide in my home environment.

I could spend an infinite amount of money trying to "solve" the mystery of why my wifi doesn't deliver the 1 Gbps download I pay my ISP for because there's nothing to solve. This is how wifi performs in a home full of reflective and absorptive surfaces, with a bunch of radio noise from other networks, and 30 clients connected.

After research and help from the BITOG wizards, it appears that my particular issue relates to the maximum download speed on a 5GHz wifi network with a channel width of 40MHz using an 802.11ac router. My router is from 2014, and I need to upgrade anyway.

Exactly and like I said above, what an Android tablet or Windows desktop on WiFi gets isn't the ISP's problem. Even if they supply the WiFi router, still doesn't change anything.
