hi guys, I've found a place in town that sells conventional valvoline for $3.49 a litre in canada. (canadian dollars) Does this seem like a good deal?

Valvoline seems to be the better of the conventionals for cold pour numbers, besides Petro Canada which is hard to find. I had it narrowed down between this and Mobil super 1000, which is really easy to find and cheaper by $4/ gallon. The cold pour point is only -30 though as apposed to -36 for the valvoline. Is the valvoline worth paying for over the mobil stuff? I cant find much on it hear, and the whole lube shop thing makes me nervous for some reason. I just get the feeling its a cheaper oil in terms of quality. Maybe I'm just bored again today?

THANKS! that was really fast. Its easy to find, and I can buy it where I buy my filters, so it works well. I've just got a touch of OCD when it comes to oil.

Are Valvolines cold pour numbers a lot better than other brands? Or in the same ballpark?

Strombony, I wouldnt say they were a LOT better, but the only two I found that were better were pennzoil YB and Petro canada. Pennzoil had a lower pour point of -39 BUT, was thicker at -35. Go figure.

Havoline, tied its pour point of -36 and its viscosity at -35. I couldnt find Havoline in 5w20 where I am, but would have loved to try it.

I was going to use the new mobil super 1000 bla bla bla up here. Even though it looks to be decent stuff, and probably is, its cold pour was -30 which wasnt quite as good.

I know there are other things to consider, but Valvoline seemed like a good all'rounder

About a week ago I picked up two Valvoline 10w30 SM/SL 5.5 quart jugs at my local Wally World. Price was $10 each. I would have picked up more, but that was all they had.

wow, thats a good deal for the maxlife. We usually get gouged up here. Now their dinging us with an environmental sur charge if I read it right.

Kruse, LOL, itd be cheaper for me to buy you a 6 pack of your beer of choice, and pay to have you ship me a gallon than it is to buy here.

Yuk, I usually shop at Partsource as well, unfortunately they only sell fram filters, and overpriced K&N stuff. They have havoline, but only in 5w30....so close.
